I’m completing my first book as well as planning for an upcoming move from North Carolina to Arizona. It’s been busy.

One news item which got my attention last month was about the robot conducting the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Designed by Honda Motor Company, the robot even shook cellist Yo-Yo Ma’s hand.

I wasn’t sure whether to get excited about technological advance – or perplexed about using it in this strange context.

You see a robot can’t communicate with the musicians, and the orchestra members in turn can’t communicate with it. So at the first rehearsal the orchestra lost it’s place because ASIMO, the name given to the robotic conductor, started to slow down.

This is something a Live, real human conductor would have noticed -and immediately corrected.

Important word here is Live. Machines are great, but they have no heart and soul. Perfect for some jobs. But when it comes to interaction, feeling, passion and communication – there’s nowhere to tune in.

If you played a rap-song to a robot, its heartbeat wouldn’t start racing faster, causing the blood pressure to rise.

If you played a beautiful Mozart Piano Concerto to the same robot, it wouldn’t calm down and realize this may be the music you hear in heavenly dreams.

Programming anything, whether it’s a conducting robot or an innocent child’s brain, doesn’t lead to happiness. It won’t ignite passion and a determination to succeed at what you love to do.

I’m not saying robots aren’t useful. They are. But robots have their place. And it’s definitely NOT in the concert hall – unless it’s a demonstration for scientists or university students.

Music is meant to inspire your mind, body and spirit.

As far as your overall physical, mental and spiritual health - it’s never to late to get the latest news on what’s good and what’s bad for your body.

Music is very important. But so is the food and drink you consume every day.

In fact most people don’t realize they’re eating glue and plastic.

Dr. Nancy Irven, my guest on By the Numbers, has written a great book called ‘Please Don’t Eat The Wallpaper.’ On this week’s radio show she’ll tell you that she’s not kidding. It’s definitely worth a listen.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

P.S. He’s also a recording musician and world-renowned expert on boosting your brain and memory.

When I called him a week ago, he was ending a long fasting retreat.

"What’s his secret?," I thought to myself – "he’s just sparkling with energy and happiness."

We proceeded to talk about his wonderful book ‘The New Golden Rules’, as well as his remarkable life. Now, in case you don’t know about Dr Dharma, he’s written seven international bestselling books and is at the forefront of cutting edge research into reversing memory and rejuvenating the brain.

But he doesn’t sound like a Harvard Professor. He talks just like you and me. And this is what made our conversation so much fun. As well as incredibly enlightening.

If you’ve ever had trouble falling asleep, dealing with stress or are interested to hear the life story and wise words from a guy who understands how to reach peace of mind and bliss, then you’ll want to tune into this week’s show.

Go to here and listen in.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

P.S. I was interviewing him about his new movie ‘The Voice’, which relates real stories about consciousness and enlightenment in vivid color. By joining science with spirituality, ‘The Voice’ continues where ‘What The Bleep’ left off.

One of the stories told in the movie comes directly from David himself. While meditating one day as a young man, he had an incredible experience.

He decided to get up and walk outside. Here’s what he told me on Friday:

"I went outside and I walked among the willow trees. I could barely feel my footprints on the grass. I could hear every rock, blade of grass, plant and tree was making a sound.

"They all had their own sounds and there was a blending into this symphony of the most incredible, subtle music. It was like ecstasy was raining on the trees. I was in this extended field of consciousness and I could hear and feel this ecstasy.

"When the birds walked on the grass, it tickled me.

"When the wind blew through the trees, it was like the tree was me. I was feeling it like the wind blowing through my own hair.

"And then I looked up at the sun – and I said ‘Oh My God’. I can HEAR the sun. It’s making this deep low resonant hum and this really high frequency sound combined.

"At that point I really tripped out. I thought ‘What’s happening to me. What is this. It was like I wasn’t even David.

"It wasn’t like I was projecting my joy – like when I climb a mountain I get a rush. This was nothing like that. It was so serene and perfectly still.

"I looked up to the sun and just listened to it."

Later during our talk, David, a well-known space scientist, revealed that NASA had recently recorded the sound of the Sun. And it sounded EXACTLY like David heard it – only somewhat compressed to make it audible to human ears.

The deep low resonant hum Sereda heard that day combined with really high frequencies was primordial.

Primordial sounds are everywhere. Even in outer space. Scientists have been listening to the sounds within our galaxy since the Voyager I and II spacecrafts were launched back in 1977.

So far, what they heard has been stunning – because it sounds exactly like a mixture of high frequency sounds found in nature – here on planet Earth.

What are those sounds, you might be asking.

Earth’s primordial sounds are a sonic mix of birds, dolphins, waves, wind, human voices, and other tones. They are high frequency sounds. When you listen to them, they’ll slow down your brain waves and cause profound relaxation.

Happily I can share my compelling phone call with David Sereda. Go here and listen in. You’ll hear some of my music as well.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

P.S. Since sound travels 5 times faster through water than through air, and our bodies are over 70 percent water, listening to high frequency sounds is a GREAT way to get total body stimulation. Especially on the cellular level. Now YOU can benefit from these sounds by listening to the 5 CDs of The Secret Power of Words and Music.

How Your Voice Reveals Intimate Secrets

Early this morning my daughter Claire woke me up wanting a drink of water. She’s had a mild flu for the past five days.

I had stayed up late last night reading a compelling book. So the sound of my voice when I handed Claire her water was telling. It sounded hollow and sleepy. Later, my shower and morning workout restored the energy in body, mind And voice.

I was reminded about how powerful our voices are.

Every time we talk, the sound of our voice reveals our gender, age, geographic background, emotional state, and our relationship to the person we’re speaking to.

When someone calls you, you recognize them by their voice. But you can also tell how they’re feeling, what kind of person they are, and what they really mean – as opposed what they might be saying. That even goes for strangers.

Even the tiniest fragments of how you say things reveal subtle, or not so subtle clues about your current state of mind. Which means that other people can ‘read’ your voice pretty accurately.

That makes every voice an extraordinary instrument.

Speaking isn’t just a string of words. It’s also the 1000s of ways those words can be said. How you say what you’re saying reveals intimate details about you. The way I see you--and the way I am seen by you—depends to a large degree on what we hear in each other’s voices.

Just like posture. The way you stand and walk can reveal your age, level of confidence, and health.

People gravitate towards voices that show enthusiasm, vitality, and graciousness. A voice that sounds listless and dull isn’t what I would call attractive. It’s actually unhealthy to listen to.

A calm, confident way of speaking is a beautiful thing to hear.

Music has the same immediate effect on you. What you hear is what you get. It’s precisely why calming, positively-charged music allows you to access joy and rejuvenation easily and naturally. After you listen to such sounds, just watch how your voice changes.

The The Secret Power of Words and Musicis a combination of great words, beautiful sounds and positively-charged music no one should be without. Make sure you have this 5-CD in your listening library.

Warmest Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

How to Harness the Power of Words

I’ve been taking some time off for Christmas and New Year’s and am now back in full swing.

As you may know, I have another related passion – sacred numerology - which gives me another glimpse into words and even the sounds of words. I won’t be writing about numerology today. Rather I’m going to share something with you that is very close to my heart. I’m referring to common phrases, which may mean no harm, but create harm without you knowing it.

Sound is a powerful frequency, so making certain words and phrases audible has a bigger effect than most people realize. Here’s a small sample of phrases to give you an idea of what I mean.

‘I’ll kill two birds with one stone.’

‘She probably won’t call.’

‘We’ll Never make it to the airport on time.’

‘What a waste of time.’

‘Drop dead.’

‘He makes me sick.’

‘I hate it when that happens.’

‘I’ll Never be able to get this straight.’

I’ll tell him, but he’ll never understand.’

‘I’m so tired – I look terrible.’

These are just a few examples of negative talk you definitely want to avoid. Don’t think for a moment that what comes out of your mouth doesn’t have tremendous power. That goes for the good, the bad and the ugly.

When you verbalize a thought, you project it out for all to hear. You dress it up, give it color, you scent it and infuse it with feeling. Your thoughts are made more alive by birthing them into sound. Sound IS a way to manifest your thoughts. So is picturing what you’re thinking. Both will leave an indelible impression on your mind.

All sounds travel outward - and back into your soul. It’s what sound waves do naturally – penetrate deeply into your subconscious.

Clearly I’m not saying to get all stressed and guarded before you speak. No, just the opposite is true. Relax, smile, breathe deeply, slow down. Then, without even realizing it, you’ll naturally say the right things.

Sound is a powerful asset you can harness to your advantage by creating an environment that’s positive, uplifting and inspires you. Your words can take you to the heavenly part of your mind.

To access this area, put on some positively charged music first. You’ll quickly enter a peaceful place. Your words are meant to remind you of all that’s good, all that’s abundant, all that’s happy. Words of strife and misery only create more of the same. So don’t respond to stress by lashing out verbally. Instead, turn on high frequency sounds.

With Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

Good Sounds vs. Destructive Sounds

My favorite time of day is early in the morning or late at night, when everyone else is sleeping.

The pristine quiet is unbeatable for helping get into a state of focus and meditation.

Have you ever sat or walked and marveled at how quiet it was. It’s so unusual NOT to have noises whirring about, that quiet places can even seem disturbing to our state of mind.

Modern noise pollution creeps up on you in subtle ways. Soon, without realizing it, you’ve turned into a noise junkie. Humming from machines, traffic rumble, planes flying overhead, people talking nearby, cellphones ringing, TVs and radios on whenever and wherever possible – what is it that we’re hearing day in and out.

It’s definitely not uplifting and relaxing.

Even listening to music is used to block out noise. Like eating food to drown your sorrows. It’s hypnotic and addictive.

Seeing people with their iPods at all times of the day drowning out their lives with sound is an interesting and recent phenomenon. Before the advent of iPods and the walkman, we had books, magazines, or shock of shocks – our thoughts - to keep us occupied. Now, sound is used to keep us from thinking clearly, reading and connecting to the world.

I use positive sound selectively. Positively charged music might be playing while I’m writing. Or driving my car. Occasionally during mealtime. And, just for pleasure, while I’m relaxing in my favorite comfy chair.

Music is a treasure. As with any treasure, it can be overused, abused and even used as a weapon. When negatively charged music turns into noise, it’s another form of pollution – invisible but just as dangerous to your peace of mind.

Be sure to make room for quiet time frequently. Especially now as we head into the busiest time of the year. You’ll maintain your emotional and mental equilibrium. And, you will feel a deep sense of happiness and gratitude.

Use music to calm your hectic days. Only positively-charged, high frequency music will do the trick. The Secret Power of Words and Music includes both music and words to soothe and uplift the soul. Make this 5 CD package your gift to yourself this season.

Use the CDs to make December 2007 the best month of the year so far.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

P.S. For all you Pythagorean Numerology buffs - I am having a holiday sale for a very short time only. So I make sure to exercise every day.

Some days, like this morning, I only have 10 minutes. This calls for an intense bodywork regimen. For at least three days a week I make sure to get a total of 45 minutes of exercise a day. And when I’m indoors, especially in cold weather, I make sure to play calm and life enhancing music while I’m working out.

This morning I listened to a CD from Tibet a friend brought me from China. It has beautiful instrumental music accompanying Tibetan monks singing, ‘Om Mani Padme Hum.’ Other days it’s Handel’s ‘Water Music’ and ‘Music for the Royal Fireworks.’ Or a Mozart piano concerto. My ‘Renewal’ CD, from The Secret Power of Words and Music package is also a favorite.

If you haven’t tried the music and exercise connection, now’s a good time to start.

Loads of research has proven that exercise is good for the body and mind. Recently ABC News reported on an exciting new study which shows the powerful effects ADDING music to your workouts has on your brain.

The results in mental performance are pretty amazing.

First, I want to tell you about the study. Charles Emery of Ohio State University knows that exercise helps people feel more positive about their lives. As a lover of music as well as an exercise enthusiast, he decided to open a new window into his research and see what would happen if he combined those two passions.

Emery tested his theory on 33 men and women who were in the final stretch of their cardiac rehabilitation program.

What music was used? High frequency classical music. Namely, Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’ played while each person exercised. Here is what happened. Participants performed more than Twice as well on a verbal fluency test after listening to Vivaldi’s music during exercise than they did after exercising without any music.

‘When there was no music, there was no change,’ Emery says.

Why did he choose Vivaldi? Because previous research showed that the ‘Four Seasons’ helped people with lung disease perform better mentally. You’re probably noticing by now that classical music has such a good track record that scientists can pretty much predict the positive outcome of their studies.

ABC News reported that the invigorating and soothing music of ‘The Four Seasons’ stimulates your brain because it’s complex while retaining a natural order. It forces your brain to organize its cells.

Imagine a particular kind of music being so powerful that it will organize your brain.

Emery’s research focused on recovering cardiac patients, because they often suffer some mental decline as a result of being sick. But he says high frequency music works for Everybody.

Whether you exercise or not - and I hope you do - adding classical music is a good idea. Listening to inspiring words, spoken beautifully, also rejuvenates your mind. This kind of mental stimulation works for your brain like exercise works for your body. The more you do it, the more those muscles — including the ones Between your ears — stay in tune and function more efficiently.

Tune into happiness and tune out of stress.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

P.S. Tomorrow I’m holding my first teleseminar for the Pythagorean Club. Come and see what all the fun is about.

What These Three Great Men Have In Common

I’m happily sitting in my studio at home listening to the autumn rain. Having traveled and spoken at seminars for the past two weeks, I am enjoying some quiet time.

Last week I learned how the power of a voice can sway multitudes to action. Every day was graced by people who spoke from the stage with power and compassion.

I heard the great Olympic Gold Champion Dan Gable talk about overcoming incredible challenges with courage and conviction. His voice just crackled with electricity and laser-like focus. It stirred me to the core.

I laughed as another speaker, Bob Wall from ‘Enter the Dragon’ fame, brought me to tears with his humor and compassion. His voice imbued me with lightness and happiness.

I heard my mentor Matthew Furey guide hundreds of his students through powerful visual exercises. For six straight days, Matthew’s voice rose and fell - at times sounding like a gentle breeze, and other times resonating to a deep and strong call to action. Always glowing with fire and joy, this great man made me cry each and every day.

So I got to thinking about the effect a voice has on us every day. Especially our own.

Every time we talk, the sound of our voice reveals our gender, age, geographic background. But most importantly, our voices tell others about our emotional state as well as our relationship to the people or person we’re speaking to.

When someone you know phones you, you recognize them by their voice. But you can also tell how they’re feeling, what kind of person they are, and what they really mean – as opposed what they might be saying.

This ability to sense a person’s state of mind applies equally to friends or strangers.

Even the tiniest fragments of how you say things reveals subtle, or not so subtle clues about you. Your voice is like an open book.

So this can only mean that your voice is an extraordinary instrument.

Speaking isn’t just a string of words. It’s also the 1000s of ways those words can be said. How you say what you’re saying reveals intimate details about you. The way I see you - and the way I am seen by you—depends to a large degree on what I hear in your voice.

Just like posture. How you stand and walk shows others your emotional state, level of confidence, age and health.

Most people naturally gravitate towards voices that are imbued with passion, love and graciousness. A voice that sounds listless and dull isn’t what I would call attractive. Not only that, this kind of voice is unhealthy to listen to.

A calm and confident voice is a beautiful thing to hear.

Positively charged music has the same immediate effect on you. What you hear instantly affects your subconscious mind. This is why positive music allows you to access your innate sense of joy and calmness easily and naturally.

Order your personal 5 CD set of The Secret Power of Words and Music now. If you’ve gone on a hike or had a picnic in the woods or spent time in your back yard in the last few months, you wouldn’t have heard much birdsong. Unless you began hiking or picnicking at dawn.

Here’s why birds quiet down in the summer.

Sound vibration. Yes, when birds sing, they create a really specific symphony of sound, which promotes the growth of young leaves in trees, plants and flowers.

This sound environment is critical for your flowers and plants to grow. It’s why you hear a plethora of birdsong during the months of Spring. The time when all plants, trees and flowers, are still blossoming and growing. When seeds germinate and sprout.

Come summer leaves are fully grown. And birds mostly stop singing during the day. Mission accomplished.

Well, not quite.

Birds still sing at dawn and twilight during the summer. Because at night every living plant breathes IN carbon dioxide. In the morning, plants switch to breathing OUT pure oxygen.

Dawn and dusk are changeover periods. That’s when birds are needed to stimulate the plants with sound vibration. The sound becomes a cue.

Incredible how our little feathered friends let the grass, trees, plants and flowers know when to grow. They produce sound vibrations that elicit a chemical activity in plants, allowing them to follow nature’s cues.

Nature consists of a myriad of sounds and vibrations, even chords of music - including the birdsongs. Once again we see how sound has an immediate visceral and chemical effect.

Exactly like music affects us humans. We feel sound instantly too. Yesterday I treated myself to a Thai massage. Much needed, I must add. During the 90 minutes, the masseuse played a CD of some ethereal flute music. It calmed me down in seconds. What a blessing positive sound is. Without it, who knows where we would be right now.

More reason then to surround yourself with high frequency music and sounds. You thrive when placed in a good aural environment. Go and experience the power of positive words and music Now.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

What You Think and Say Is What You Are

Do you know what describes you more than anything else. The words you think and speak.

This morning, while I was exercising, the phone rang. Something inside propelled me to answer the call. I don’t usually take a call while I’m in the middle of a workout.

Turns out it was a guy I had met a few months ago at a meeting and had emailed with a question about nutrition. He decided to give me the answer by phone. We instantly connected. I could FEEL this man’s positive vibration emanating through my phone. His voice told me exactly what state of mind he was in. We talked for a long time about all sorts of stuff. I didn’t mind the interruption to my workout in the least.

What a great reminder. What you think and say carries a vibration, which everyone, including you, feels and responds to.

For example, if a friend of yours uses the words ‘I’m afraid I can’t come for dinner tonight,’ even though she’s probably not literally scared - by using the word ‘afraid’, she reveals much about her emotional and mental state at that moment.

Your thoughts are the sounds of life. Sound travels. What’s important to remember is - you can CONTROL those thoughts. You can get rid of negative thoughts.

Using the words ‘I’m afraid I can’t make it’ means there is confusion. Like thinking one thing and feeling another. There’s an internal battle. Why not say instead, ‘I have another commitment, but I’d like to get together another time.’ Those words are clear, unambiguous and aren’t sending mixed emotional messages.

The words ‘I’m afraid I can’t …’ seem to be used out of context, though if you ask me, words are always used IN context whether we realize it or not.

What’s more, there’s the SOUND of your voice to consider. I can tell instantly whether I want to talk to someone or not – like with person calling me earlier this morning. Within a second or two the inflection, tone and intent of a person’s state mind can be picked up from his or her voice.

Put some other words to the test. Feel their vibrations. I think you’ll be surprised and delighted. Even shocked. I guarantee you’ll be much more selective about which thoughts to allow and which ones to eliminate.

Give your mind only good, inspired vibrations. Go and discover the secret power behind positive words and music.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

P.S. At least that WAS the plan.

During opening day ceremonies, Claire kept asking me if she could meet Mary Virginia, head teacher for the K-2 classroom. That’s kindergarten through second grade. Every few minutes she would say, "Mommy I want to meet Mary Virginia."

So I took her. Before I knew it, Claire asked if she could change classes.

We initially placed her in pre-school because she’s been at home up until now. Our idea – start her on 3 days a week and school her in gradually. But Claire had other plans that first day.

What attracted her to Mary Virginia.

The vibration in the classroom. This woman is renowned for her positive discipline approach. She exudes warmth AND positive authority. She tells beautiful stories about Merlin and King Arthur and weaves all subjects from math to science to writing and drawing around the day’s story line. Her voice is mellifluous – fluid and very expressive. No monotony here.

Of equal importance is that she handles every challenge calmly and firmly. In short, Mary Virginia is a gem.

I know, because on day two last week we experimented with Claire attending K-2 instead of pre-school. I was in the classroom, way in the back, all day. On the sidelines to gauge Claire’s readiness.

Then I noticed, when it came time to eat snack and lunch, another magical thing happened. Instead of saying ‘Grace,’ Mary Virginia sang a beautiful song about it. Once she began, all the kids quieted down. It was wonderful to watch.

As for Claire, she’s rising to the challenge. She has a steep learning curve – having never been in a same-age social environment on a daily basis. Main thing is she’s very happy. To the point of wanting to go to school on Saturdays and Sundays as well…

I attribute this to the strength and peace of mind her teacher and her assistant Edie exhibit – all day and without exception.

And guess what music Mary Virginia plays in her classroom? Peaceful and calm classical and meditation music. In fact, she just added the music from The Secret Power of Words and Music to her collection. Yes, these CDs are being played in classrooms all around the country.

Fancy that, a teacher who understands, no, who KNOWS, positively charged music balances our brain’s hemispheres and stimulates creativity and joy. There’s no better environment for learning than that.

So get your 5 CD package today. And don’t forget to play the music to your kids and grandkids!

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle

Is Classical Music Beautiful?

Today I’m grabbing a question from the mailbag. Here’s an email that threw me for a loop when I first read it.

“Hi Tania,

“I like music a lot. I'm an amateur musician, I play in Russian balalaika orchestras, and I play Old Time American & Irish folk music - jigs & reels & such.

“I'm in my late 40's, and believe it or not, this is the first time I have ever heard classical music called "beautiful"! People either love it or hate it, but even by the people who love it, I have never heard it called "beautiful" before. Wow. The thought is startling. I would never have put classical and beautiful in the same sentence before. I have tried many times to like classical music, but it's like asparagus. I just can't. In fact, I find it dark and depressing. Ya just can't dance to it.

“sorry...

‘Would you mind in a future article explaining what "high frequency" means. I tend to think of music as a progression of many frequencies, not just high ones. Do you just mean music with violins, fiddles, flutes & piccolos in it.”

Thanks.
Suzanne
Tucson, AZ

Thank you for your candid email, Suzanne. It actually brought a smile to my face. My whole life I’ve been surrounded by people who loved classical music because of its beauty.

You bring up a very important point – beauty for one person may be horse p… for another. Okay, I got the message. I will tell you though, there is some amazing dance music from the renaissance and baroque periods, which is based on folk songs. Like the Gigue, Gavotte, Menuet and Rigaudon.

Much of this music is derived from English Country Dance, a social folk dance dating back to the 16th century. Of course there’s also the Waltz King, Johann Strauss, whose dances are as joyful as can be. Tchaikovsky’s Ballets, like ‘The Nutcracker’ have some beautiful music to dance to. Not to mention dances by Mozart, Gluck, Mendelssohn’s ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’, Borodin’s ‘Polovtsian Dances,’ Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances, and Brahms’ ‘Hungarian Dances.’

As for high frequencies - have you ever entered a room that has a weird or uncomfortable feeling about it. You just might be feeling low frequency sound waves.

The lowest of those are called infrasound. They’re produced by machines such as vehicles, household equipment and heating and cooling systems. It’s been known for some time that these low frequency waves can cause symptoms such as nausea, headaches, fatigue, insomnia, vibration of internal organs and a feeling of oppression.

On the other hand, certain high frequency sounds literally energize your mind. Scientists have found that sounds from 5,000 to 8,000 hertz recharge your brain’s batteries. They are made by musical notes that are higher. Violins, flutes, oboes, pianos, harps and clarinets make them – but so do the higher ranges in cellos, horns, bassoons, and saxophones.

If your CD collection includes music by Mozart, Baroque Music or Tibetan Chants, keep listening. This is the ultimate high frequency music. In numerous studies, these sounds have been found to charge the cortex of the brain and stimulate health and wellness.

At 120-125 hertz you begin to hear the kick drums and bass guitar common to rock and pop music. These lower frequencies produce the opposite effect - they drain us.

Why is this?

Because they have wavelengths longer than we are tall, which is why lower frequencies are FELT as well as heard. You can feel this low frequency full-body sensation at dance clubs and rock concerts. Or from listening to most FM radio stations.

Since most people are exposed to low frequency sounds on a daily basis, it’s important to balance your brain and body by listening to high frequency, positively charged music. Get the ultimate 5 CD package – The Secret Power of Words and Music.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. The CD ‘Renewal’, part of the Secret Power package, has a mixture of world, classical, new age and celtic sounds. Guitars, flutes, oboes, harps, xylophones, marimba and strings are the main instruments. Makes you feel happy, calm AND rejuvenated.

Gangbuster Music

Classical music has helped relax doctors, patients, animals and children worldwide. What’s next?

At the end of July in Tacoma, Washington new speakers were installed at the Transit Center. Fed up with gang activity, city officials decided to start pumping Bach, Mozart, Brahms and Beethoven at the bus stop.

Changing potential crime scenes by pouring in positively charged sounds is not new. It’s been used in England for the past two years, with great results.

The tactic in Tacoma is based on jolting the routine of drug dealers and criminals with something so different, and so good for you, that it throws off their routine. Like a good boxer or wrestler who surprises his opponent, classical music is now being used to ‘mix up’ the scene in a crime-ridden environment.

If the constant playing of this high frequency music reduces disorder, speakers may be installed in more bus stops.

I can see the headline – Classical Music Chases Away Gangs. Gotta love that one.

What’s funny is that beautiful music is most likely NOT palatable to troublemakers – so, they may flee and hang out somewhere else.

The effect these calming sounds have on everyone may surprise transit authorities. Will passengers feel safer? Most likely. Mozart, Haydn and Bach’s melodies go directly to the source – our subconscious mind. There’s nothing like stillness to wake you up and bring you to your senses.

It’s a wonderful thing to see city officials wake up and embrace the immense resources classical music has to offer. Whether it’s used for crowd control, to deter crime, or to calm people on a subway train, these positive sounds do wonders - no matter where they are played.

Now it’s YOUR turn to use this resource – it’s gentle, easy and immediate.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

Virility and Sensitivity

A little over a week ago I was in Vermont to watch my husband Clayton Haslop perform six concerts in five days.

The last of these took place outdoors at the beautiful Trapp Family Lodge overlooking Vermont’s highest mountain. You probably remember the Trapp family from the movie ‘The Sound of Music.’

It was a perfect evening. Calm, low 70s, wispy clouds and stillness permeated the air. Even the Austrian cows in the pasture next to us stopped mooing. Mozart and Mendelssohn have an effect on four-leggeds as well as humans.

Clayton came on stage, performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto and received a standing ovation. His playing was astoundingly beautiful and thrilling to watch. He has the magnetic presence Sir Thomas Beecham referred to as ‘the maximum of virility and the utmost of sensitivity.’

Then fireworks lit up the late evening sky.

What an exciting end to a beautiful week. One thing which clearly stood out is the immense power soothing classical music has on the mind.

Mozart’s Harp and Flute Concerto preceded Clayton’s Mendelssohn Violin Concerto performance. If you don’t have either of these pieces of music in your CD collection, I highly recommend you add them. The Mozart is one of those sublime compositions whose gentle, angelic mood is unparalleled in music. This isn’t static, go-nowhere music, without a climax and a story, but a sophisticated yet simple work of genius.

When you listen to truly positively charged music, your brain can’t help but relax and rejuvenate. It’s why using high frequency music is a must for any age.

Get the package that has it all – positive music, inspiring words and world class performances. A clear, focused mind is your most important asset.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. My music has graced the stages of the Vermont Mozart Festival in year past, and will again in the future. The director of the festival recently commissioned me to compose brand new music for the New York Chamber Soloists. In the very near future you’ll be able to hear a sneak preview of this music. Sound is a remarkably potent tool to help you tap into your deepest inner resources. Begin using positively charged sounds today by ordering The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD package.

Hazardous Sounds in Florida

I’m sitting on a plane which just took off from Tampa where I spent a three-day weekend.

I wasn’t in Florida to vacation, but to recharge my battery by attending a Mastermind group that meets four times a year. At the end of the meeting though, a jarring noise almost made me leave the room.

A video was being shown on the large screen in front of me and another hundred plus members. Don’t get me wrong, it was an absolutely riveting interview. But it was marred by some really annoying background sounds. After a few minutes of being exposed to a constant low frequency rumble, my chest began tightening up. As I said earlier, I nearly got up to leave the room, it got so bad.

The interview was too riveting though, so I decided to remain seated. I’m telling you - this was hard. Fortunately the clip only lasted 9 minutes.

Who was it being interviewed keeping me seated even while I was starting to feel my body reacting in self-defense? None other than my mentor and teacher of the Mastermind, Matthew Furey.

After it all ended, I was happy to offer the producers of this film a solution to their low frequency sound challenge. Interestingly many other members came up to me asking about software program,
which is called SoundSoap2.

This low frequency sound episode reminded me of the power sound has on our health and well-being. And that most of us are pretty oblivious to these hidden health hazards.

You may not even realize that the hum of an air conditioner, to take one example, is affecting your ability to think clearly.

My husband Clayton put one of those window A/Cs in my studio this morning. It’s hitting the low nineties all week, a rare event for Asheville, and I can’t have my music equipment sweltering in Florida-like temperatures with humidity to match.

As a result, I noticed my ability to concentrate lessened because of the constant low frequency sound the A/C was emitting. So, it’s staying off for much of the heat wave. I’d rather be warm than fatigued.

Pay attention to those hidden noises in your life. If possible, mask them with high frequency music to balance out your environment.

A balanced mind is your most important asset.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. The rest of my weekend in Tampa was superb. The short sound episode was quickly forgotten after I did some deep breathing exercises in my hotel room while playing the music on the Renewal CD.

How Mind and Ear are One

Back in Ancient Egypt the word for ‘ear’ and ‘mind’ were synonymous. This was because the mind interprets and gives meaning to sound.

Music was called ‘hy’, which translates to ‘joy’ and ‘gladness.’ Since Ancient Egyptians loved symbols, the picture for joy was a woman playing a round frame drum. This brings up an interesting piece of information.

Did you know that most of the percussionists in Ancient Egypt were women? At least when it came to sacred ceremonies. Some of these women were highly trained court musicians. Others were engaged by large temples as musician priestesses.

Everything in Ancient Egypt had more than one meaning. In this way the drum played an important role. It was used to coordinate the rhythms of oarsmen on the boats sailing the Nile. In the temples, this journey along the Nile was also enacted in sacred ceremonies. Here the musician priestesses depicted the soul sailing on a boat on the Milky Way to heaven.

Many or the hieroglyphs you’ll see show the god of wisdom, Thoth, accompanied by his daughter Maat, who embodied truth, sailing across the celestial waters of the sky. In the boat was always a woman playing the frame drum, ordering the natural rhythms of the universe.

These hieroglyphs of women playing the drum are also seen on the walls of tombs. They symbolized receiving the soul of the deceased person and sailing him or her home.

So, just as the drum was used during times of war by male drummers and by women priestesses in sacred ceremonies, the great river Nile was not only a bringer of life to farmers but also believed to be a symbol of the Milky Way. Of course back then, city lights wouldn’t have obscured the beautiful Milky Way as they do now. Seeing the ‘river of light’ in the sky must have elicited awe and inspiration.

It’s no wonder then, that that music played such a significant role. Music IS motion, and motion is life. When we feel the joy in our daily motions, we have touched on something sacred.

Listen to all the sounds surrounding you today. Are they relaxing? Do the sounds uplift and remind you of beauty? Are they fluid, calm and invigorating?

Next time you get into your car or come home from work, turn on high frequency, positively charged sounds and watch yourself let go of tension, anxiety and stress. Use music in the way it was meant to be used. As a healing tool. Immerse your ears and mind in The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD package Now.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. The phrase ‘It’s Music to My Ears’ is a great example of music as an instrument of joy. Joy is not a feeling many relate to in our hustle and bustle world. But it IS the most important emotion to finding inner peace. When something is ‘Music to Your Ears’, listen to it over and over again. Because, in reality, you are nourishing your hungry soul. http://www.artabundance.com/secretpower.htm

Unleashing a Child’s Imagination

If you’ve spent time with children, you know they have very active imaginations.

Play them a song, and they’ll pick up on the lyrics and musical vibes very quickly. Tell them a story, and they will ask you to repeat it over and over again. Kids have a wonderful way of tapping into their emotions and acting out these feelings instantly.

Clara, my five-year-old, never wants us to stop when we read or tell her stories at bedtime.

Last night, I took the time to lie across from her, while Clayton read her one of her favorites. Her eyes and facial expressions totally engaged me. Talk about a mind/body/spirit connection – I got goose bumps watching the enchanting scene on the bed.
A good story, told well, activates the complete child. Actually, a good story lights up the Inner Child in an adult as well.

The benefits of telling your child a good story at least once a day are immeasurable.

If that’s not possible, then play your child some positively charged music which stimulates his or her imagination.

Think of it as movie soundtrack without the movie. Your child creates the movie in their inner mind. Many parents are using the Renewal CD on road trips or on the way to school and back with fantastic results.

In today’s world, imagination is crucial to relaxation as well as success. Make sure your child has the tools to tap the immense creativity inherent in all of us.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. The child could just as easily be your INNER child. High frequency music has an amazing way to bring us into that playful, wondrous and enchanting state where creativity can expand exponentially. Use this easy tool and your life will be blessed many times over.

Silence Your Stress Hormones

‘I’ve gotta get rid of stress.’ You hear that a lot. ‘Getting rid’ of stress by eliminating the cause is not always an option.

However, silencing stress hormones is something anyone can do.

What goes on inside your body when you’re in the pressure cooker emotionally, mentally or physically? Your brain, sensing any kind of stress, releases ACTH from the pituitary gland. That ACTH reaches your adrenal glands. They in turn release adrenaline and cortisol into your blood stream.

By this time your whole body is swimming is stress hormones.

As a result your body wants to counteract. It gets itself into a defensive stance by increasing blood flow to the muscles and raising your blood pressure. The result is that your immune system weakens.

Most people don’t even realize their body is being invaded by these little tiny pressure cookers. Because they don’t take emotional stress into account. It’s not just our fast-paced lives that wind us down. It’s feelings of loss, loneliness, and especially dissatisfaction with your job that can be the biggest stress creators.

The best silencer to all things stressful is happiness. If you’re unhappy about some or all parts of your life, your stress levels are high. Addressing the things that make you unhappy and putting a new plan into action will bring down those stress hormones – and fast.

The sounds you choose to listen to play a big role in helping you release tension. Music will either give you a dose of stress reduction or stress elevation.

Some people, especially when younger, get addicted to feeling their heart rate and respiration at higher levels. So they self-dose with music that elevates their cortisol and adrenaline. Rock, heavy metal, pop, rap – is what gets their heart pumping.

It’s the exact opposite of what will get you ‘in the flow.’ You want to stimulate your mind while slowing down your heart rate. This is the sure-fire way to silence stress.

There’s no easier method to rejuvenation than by listening to highly programmable music – of the positively charged kind.

Turn on these magical sounds no matter what you’re doing and lavish your heart and mind with beauty - you’ll tap into limitless joy and boundless passion.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. Your mind is deep in delta recuperating from the day.

You’re relaxed and have put down your guard. In this state, you dream, play with ideas, digest information and create new options with total freedom.

Then, suddenly, the alarm clock goes off. You lurch forward, heart racing. Your adrenaline goes into overdrive. Your blood pressure soars. In seconds you are totally awake and hurtling your mind and body into a new day. You are now in a Beta state of mind.

But how to adjust to this sudden change?

Coffee, most likely. As you gulp your cup of joe and add something sweet to eat, you expound the caffeine fix with a sugar fix. Soon you feel all pumped up.

But what’s really going on. Your entire body, mind and spirit are under major stress.

In reality, you are distressed. This is what it’s like to be in a Beta state of mind. In beta you can handle the fast-pace impact of daily life. You remain in this state for up to 18 hours. Then you collapse back into bed without even a moment of real relaxation.

Guess what happens over time as you repeat this behavior day after day.

Your health is adversely affected. Over time this shocking transition from deeply relaxed delta to instant beta isn’t recommended. Especially on a daily basis.

For instance – your cells and your sleep are not as restorative. Your immune system is prone to more viruses, like the cold and flu, as well as allergies. Plus you may develop blood pressure problems by being in an ongoing beta state.

Since your mind really never rests in beta, you’re usually tired, feel worn out and far less likely to make good decisions concerning your life.

There is a way out of beta, and it’s called the alpha state. Alpha is your peaceful home. Unlike delta, which only occurs in deep sleep, alpha can be accessed quickly while you are fully conscious. It will always give you relief from stress.

In alpha you are at your most productive. Great artists, athletes, mystics and scientists get their ideas while in the alpha state.

All creativity happens in an alpha state where mind and heart communicating with each other. While in alpha you are flexible, and remain calm and open even while facing tough decisions. Time stands still, while ideas flow easily. You’re in the flow.

How do we harness the alpha state? One of the fastest and easiest ways is by listening to positively charged music where you don’t have exert any effort or ‘try’ to leave beta for alpha. In fact, the less you work at it, the faster you’ll reach it.

Music is the bridge to reaching the alpha state quickly. Add deep breathing to the equation and you reach the peaceful haven called alpha in seconds.

With Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. Actually, she’s currently going by the name Seven. In fact, she insists that we NOT use the number 7, because it is now her name. What can I say - she’s unique.

Secondly, today is the nationwide release of the new Pixar movie ‘Ratatouille’. My husband Clayton absolutely loves this film. Told me about how great it was over three months ago. You might be wondering how he was able to sneak a peak back in March.

Well, Michael Giacchino, composer of the soundtrack, who also wrote the music for ‘The Incredibles,’ ‘Mission Impossible 3’, ‘Alias’ and ‘Lost’, had Clayton in mind when he created the music for ‘Ratatouille.’

ALL the violin solos you’ll be hearing were written for and performed by none other than my husband, world-class violinist Clayton Haslop. That’s how he was able to get his sneak peak on the recording stage in Hollywood. We’re celebrating by taking Clara to her first movie theater experience tonight.

The 3rd reason is …

I am unveiling four, yes 4 New Products. Incredible products which will answer your most pressing questions. Questions everyone has. About love. About where to live. About what job is best for you. And about how your Pythagorean Numbers are affecting you today.

Click this link, and discover what’s in store for you.

With Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. According to Clayton, ‘Ratatouille’ is no ordinary kids cartoon. He says adults will appreciate it as much, possibly even more, than children. He also raves about Michael Giacchino’s score. Today’s Chicago Tribune calls the soundtrack, ‘the most delightful musical score of the year.’ Enjoy the positive frequencies, fun and joy of this unique film.

Creating Heaven on Earth

Last night Clayton and I watched a DVD sent to us from a friend in Germany.

It’s a marvelous Oscar-nominated Swedish movie called ‘As it is in Heaven’. The story revolves around a world-famous conductor whose concerts are booked eight years in advance.

Can you imagine every day of your life being booked nearly a decade ahead of time? I feel tense just thinking picturing the calendar of such a person. Not surprisingly, the stress of the conductor’s grueling schedule forces him to suddenly retire due to bad health.

Faced with a completely open schedule, he decides to return to the village of his birth. Soon he takes on the job of Cantor in the small parish church.

Well this little post forces him to completely re-invent his approach to making music. He undergoes a tremendous transformation while teaching his small group of amateurs singers about moving their bodies and - most importantly - listening to each other.

For weeks, not even one melody is sung. The singers vocalize and play with sound. Soon, what was previously seen as work turns into delightful practice. Every character wakes up and discovers their inner voice.

What caused the major shift in consciousness?

At one point during a rehearsal, the conductor says to his little group, “We are here to listen. Music surrounds us all, and our job is only to open our ears to it.”

So how do you know if you have heard it?

You are moved. Your soul is stirred. You feel a lovely sensation in your heart. And you feel blessed.

Whether you are creating the music or hearing it, makes no difference – as long as you breathe deeply and listen. Take the sounds on any of the five ‘Secret Power of Words and Music’ CDs - The Secret Power of Words and Music - no matter where you are and what you’re doing, they’ll inspire and uplift you.

So, next time you want to relax, turn off the all stressful sounds and listen to magical, calming high frequency music.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. The DVD ‘As it is in Heaven’ can only be played on multi-region DVD players, which will play movies from any region in the world. If you have one, you are in for a beautiful treat. Enjoy.

Music Swapping of the Cellular Kind

As I’ve mentioned in this newsletter before, I’m not a big fan of cell-phones. Especially when it comes to kids.

Supposedly more than a million kids in the United Kingdom under 10 years of age already have a mobile phone. Imagine. That’s one in four children. The average age a child receives a cell phone in Europe is eight. Hmmm. So what might they be doing with their phones, besides calling their friends ad nauseam.

These children are using cell-hones as mp3 players for one. Listening to digital music.

And, they are sharing music illegally, which basically means, they’re spending a lot of time with their ear to the phone. Not only are they swapping songs, they’re entering dangerous territory by using the phone next to their young brains.

One of our neighbors walks her dogs every day. She’s on her cell phone every time we see her drive or walk by. I know lots of people love talking on their mobile when they’re out and about.

But when the calling behavior results in sloppy driving, inconsiderate and loud talking - as in restaurants, illegal sharing of music, and a general nervous tension in the person being called at ALL times, the cell phone has turned into a addictive gadget. I’m referring to the ‘I can’t live without it’ feeling you get from people with mobiles glued to their bodies at all hours. Interrupting any and all conversations when their phone chirps.

Must be the same parents who are giving their eight-year-young kid a cell phone. Ugh.

May your ears ring to another much more uplifting tune – the sounds on The Secret Power of Words and Music CDs. They won’t harm or disrupt your day. Far from it. Listen to this music and you’ll be reminded at how powerful positive sounds truly are.

Go and order your 5 CD set today.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

Milking Mozart in Spain

Here’s a fascinating benefit to playing classical music. Listening to Mozart greatly enhances the amount of milk dairy cows produce.

Farmers in Spain and Israel also claim that playing Mozart’s music to their cows enhances the taste of their milk by making it sweeter.

700 cows were exposed to Mozart’s Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra. Once these animals were just normal, run-of-the-mill dairy cows avoiding milking time with a vengeance. Believe it or not, since the strains of Mozart’s music have been wafting through their stalls at milking time – a dramatic shift in temperament AND production was witnessed by the farmers.

Now, these formerly agitated cows line up quietly to be milked. They don’t seem to mind all the poking and prodding one little bit.

What’s even more exciting is that these happy cows are now producing anywhere from 1 to 6 additional liters of milk a day, compared to the cows who aren’t listening to Mozart.

Remember, these are cows. Not people. There is NO placebo effect happening here.

The ‘Mozart Effect’ has been known to boost IQ and make people smarter and more creative. Only recently has it been tested on animals.

Mozart, in a nutshell, wrote music which does two things simultaneously. Its beautiful harmonies, legato melodies and florid allegros stimulate the brain. At the same time Mozart relaxes the muscles. This is how humans - and now cows - can live up to their fullest potential.

I reckon we might be hearing more about the Moozart Effect.

The farmers have said how much more relaxed and alert they themselves feel as well. I’m sure they’re thrilled about the results their cows are getting for one thing.

As it turns out, the cows’ milk also has higher levels of healthy fats and proteins, as well as that sweeter taste.

You too can reap the relaxing AND rejuvenating benefits of classical music. Just listen to the sounds on the 5 CDs making up The Secret Power of Words and Music - they will take you to a place of ultimate calm and alertness.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. Cows aren’t the only beneficiaries of classical music. Adding beauty to your life is always a win-win situation. If you have a pet, play this music for them. Not only will it help them, you’ll reap the benefits of these healing and uplifting sounds as well. He devised a way to become their 24/7 DJ - a living sound architect.

The hospital decided to hire Campbell after the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation released a report based on 600 studies of hospital settings. What they found is that the design within hospitals - especially the quality of light and sound - have a dramatic effect on whether patients recover fast or slowly.

Better designed hospitals had much less noise. This resulted in fewer errors, because nurses and doctors could concentrate while they remained calm. Fewer drugs were dispersed, mostly because patients were under far less stress and slept so much better.

Isn’t it amazing how something as simple as ‘less noise’ has such a great effect on health and well-being.

I noticed this today after I left my studio with its buzzing computer, printer and numerous music recording devices. I stepped outdoors to spend time with our four-year-old daughter Clara.

Immediately I heard the breeze blowing through the tall trees. I was reminded at how beautifully alive natural sounds are. They have a rhythm all their own. And they certainly are not noisy, low frequency hums. Like you would encounter in any office or hospital.

Lest you think this was a new discovery for me, you’re only partly correct. I may have ‘known’ this to be true from previous experience. But I can only be truly conscious of it, if I’m feeling it on a deep cellular level. I may have known low frequency noise isn’t good for me, but until I experience high frequency sounds, such as found in nature, this knowledge doesn’t do me much good.

I look at Clara to see the joy of experiencing everything as if it’s the first time, every time. She teaches me about being conscious.

So when I heard about this large new study seeking to relax the sound-scape in hospitals, I was thrilled. There’s just nothing like feeling the effects of a whole new environment.

Don Campbell has assembled 9000 musical selections. They will in specific places and stages of recovery, which the hospital has separated into unique ‘harmonic zones’. These locations are designed to enhance and improve patients’ And health professionals’ experience - in circumstances normally producing stress and anxiety.

The specially selected music will feed each ‘harmonic zone’ in the hospital 24 hours a day in an order that never repeats itself.

What’s the goal of this unique project?

To improve the healing process in patients. To create the healthiest environment possible for them, their caretakers and visitors.

Positively charged music is the key ingredient to making this equation work. Wafting through the halls and rooms, these sounds will soothe the soul, distract the mind from the whirrs and buzzes of machines, and flood the hospital environment with joy and serenity. How wonderful, and how timely.

But please don’t wait until you get sick to realize how important it is to relax. Start now. Some of his songs honored one of Mexico’s most notorious drug lords, Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman, who is the leader of the Sinaloa cartel.

Believe it or not, there is actually a name for these drug songs - narcocorridos – ballads honoring the exploits of drug dealers.

Elizalde was leaving an open-air festival in Reynosa, Mexico when bullets were fired at his van, killing him, his manager and driver, only minutes after he had performed at a local fair.

What did he sing about that day? Los Zetas, a mercenary force employed by Mexican drug cartels.

This popular singer recorded several albums for Universal Music and often toured the U.S. So he was no slouch. Just a few weeks before his death, he received the 'soloist of the year' prize at Los Premios de la Radio Awards in Hollywood, California.

But, eventually, anything you send out will eventually come back to you. Whether it will haunt you or to uplift you is totally up to You. This is a universal law.

When music is used to glorify drugs or violence, it does harm. There is no doubt about this. Because adding melody, harmony and rhythm to any words makes them much more powerful. Your mind assimilates words effortlessly when they are set to music.

Just turn on your television. And watch, or rather, listen to the commercials.
