How Did Einstein Get So Smart

Albert Einstein is recognized as one of the smartest men who has ever lived.

You may not know that when Albert was young he was considered a poor student. In fact his grade school teachers told his parents to take him out of school because he was “too stupid to learn.” That it would be a waste of their resources to invest any more time and money on his education.

Still makes me cringe as I’m writing this.

The school ended this sorry story by telling his parents to get Al an easy, manual labor job as soon as they could.

Mother knew better. She didn’t think her Albert was stupid at all. So his parents said,"no way" and found another solution. What did they did do? Albert’s parents bought him a violin. Yes you read correctly. And Albert Einstein became very good violinist.

Einstein himself said that the reason he was so smart is because he played the violin.

A friend of Einstein’s, G.J. Withrow, said that the way Einstein figured out his problems and complex equations was by improvising. On his violin.

He especially loved the music of Mozart and Bach. Funny, how it’s only been in the last few years that the “Mozart Effect” has taken the educational world by storm. For good reason. In test after test these high frequency sounds have had such stunning results on IQ, concentration, memory and focus that parents are given CDs of this positive music when they leave certain hospitals with their newborns.

Now here’s another secret.

Thomas Jefferson said that playing the violin helped him write the Declaration of Independence.

When he couldn’t figure out the right wording for a certain part, he would play his violin to help him focus. Jefferson realized that the music helped him get the words from his brain onto the paper.

These two geniuses were on to something before science proved their actions to be factual. Both of these men's minds functioned at such a high level because they paid attention to what worked. And found the answer: the positive sounds of high frequency classical music.

Isn’t it time you added positive sounds to your life too? You don’t have to play the violin to benefit. All you need is CD or mp3 player. And the attitude of someone who wants to rejuvenate their braincells.

Recently my husband Clayton played his violin with Einstein’s violin bow. It’s just one of the perks a world-class musician gets. Now you can hear this amazing violinist when you order the Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD package.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. If you’re still scratching your head about where horsehair fits into the equation, here’s the answer. A violin bow has around 150 horse-hairs stretched between its ends. As soon as you get your five CDs, you’ll hear the powerful effects of horsehair drawing along the strings of some stunning old Italian instruments. Don't wait, because they're going fast.

The Barometer da Vinci Lived By

Did you know that your thoughts are completely influenced by what you see around you?

For example, if I see a piece of mail that hasn’t been read, paid or recycled, it distracts me. Even that small instance gets stored away and becomes a burden until I do something about it.

And so it goes with all unfinished business. I found that eliminating unpaid bills and clutter as soon as they arrive on my doorstep is one of the requirements for maintaining clarity and focus.

You can only relax and prosper when the energy around you is freed up.

Leonardo da Vinci puts it this way:

"The color of the object illuminated partakes of the color of that which illuminates it."

In other words, you are colored by what you see and hear.

Ask yourself, "who and what am I allowing to illuminate my mind?" Then check the barometer. Life-enhancing stays, negative and distracting goes. This exercise alone has helped me immensely.

What’s really interesting is, when you discern what’s helpful and what’s useless you eliminate duality from your life.

For example. Let’s say you’re torn between eating junkfood or a healthy meal - you’re in conflict, right. You haven’t made the decision to choose what’s good for you over what’s bad for you.

So there’s a struggle between good and bad going on inside your head. That’s living in duality. And it has a way of creeping into every little thing you do. It's also stressful and exhausting.

It's an interesting fact that conflict is eliminated through illumination.

Just like magic, you make a life-enhancing decision by looking it straight in the eye and voila - you stop being in conflict about it. Worries disappear. Guilt drops away. Excuses become extinct. Life feels good.

The result inevitably is – you have more energy to be happy and productive. More resolve to keep on doing things that are good for you. Like immersing your mind and body in the positive sounds of The Secret Power of Words and Music CDs.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

It’s that time of year again – when summer’s just around the corner and you feel an urge to go on a vacation.

Have you ever noticed how meticulously people plan their vacations? Spending countless hours refining all the details for their get-away.

Look Who’s Playing My Music

I’ve got some world-class performances of my music going on.

First some news. The Artis Quartet, one of Europe’s greatest chamber groups will be playing the world premiere of my new work in the U.S. next February. At the end of their tour, they’ll perform my music at the Library of Congress.

What’s most thrilling is that this music will receive its European premiere in the world’s finest concert hall – the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria in March.

Whose hallowed halls, by the way, have echoed with my music before. And I have posters to prove it.

Vienna is thee city to visit if you're a classical musician. One great composer to the next, from Haydn to Mozart, from Mozart to Beethoven, from Beethoven to Schubert to the Waltz King Johann Strauss have counted Vienna as their favorite city. They wrote their immortal works there. Walking in the old part of the city, where we always stay, is like walking through the history of western classical music.

Then there's another world premiere, this time in New York tol be performed later this year. It’s still a secret – but I’ll just divulge that some very funny ‘Alice in Wonderland’ excerpts are involved.

Musicians have told me that they love to play my music. Because it’s melodic, immediately accessible and doesn’t underestimate your intelligence. Meaning, you’re inspired instead of bored. Or overextended by too many notes. Musicians appreciate this.

Grammy-award-winners like the Angeles Quartet and NYC’s St. Luke’s Chamber Orchestra members have added to my list of superb performances. That’s any composer’s dream, because the music’s only as good as the musicians performing it.

Now you can hear these world-class artists when you listen to my The Secret Power of Words and Music set of five CDs. Get your package now because they’re going fast.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

Why Cindy Crawford Isn’t Your Average Model

Many models live very unhealthy lives. Cindy Crawford isn’t one of them. In fact, she’s a shining example of a life in balance.

I know first hand. Because Cindy and I shared an experience of courage. We gave birth at home. Using the same midwife.

It’s definitely not the status quo thing to do. A mother has to be in good shape and healthy in mind and body. We both knew as soon as we were pregnant that, barring unforeseen circumstances, we’d be safer and much happier in our own natural, germ-free, relaxing home environment.

Not only is Cindy healthy, she’s very bright.

Did you know she was valedictorian of her highschool class and had a 4.0 GPA? Did you know she won an academic scholarship to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University? She only attended for one quarter before pursuing her modeling career.

Lucky for us.

When I ran into Cindy and her kids at the pediatrician’s office I realized how balanced her life was. No make-up, smile on her face, courteous and loving – as naturally confident as it gets.

As you can tell, our kids also share the same pediatrician, Dr. Jay Gordon, whom we still use even after leaving L.A. two years ago. Dr. Jay has published many great books and is an ABC Good Morning America consultant. He’s one of the few pediatricians in the U.S. who counsels all parents about the dangerous side-effects of vaccines. If you live in a third world country, he believes, you need them. If not, don’t go near them. Of course, he leaves the decision up to the parents.

Back to Cindy.

She’s always worked out. This is what her personal trainer of 16 years, Valerie Waters, has to say about her:

“Cindy lives a life of balance that I have rarely seen in others, with consistency being the key to her success. Throughout Cindy's consistently busy and changing life, fitness has remained a constant. Because she’s living a balanced life, not only does she look great, but also feels great. She takes care of herself and makes her health and well-being a top priority.”

Notice the emphasis on consistency. Because Consistency is the one-ingredient-recipe for success. In anything. When you do a little more each day, you’re already well on your way towards living a successful life.

So, from now on, make the following a constant: Take daily time-outs to nurture your body, mind and spirit. Every day. If needed, nurture body one day, mind the next and spirit the next.

Take recharging to a new level by listening to the rejuvenating The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD set.

It’s a whole mind-body-spirit package.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

How Serenity Empowers You

Let’s say you were asked, which historic figure you would most like to meet. You’re response would most likely include one of the following luminaries.

Plato, Jesus, Mozart, Gandhi, Galileo, Buddha, Shakespeare, Lao Tzu, Marie Curie, Ben Franklin, Catherine the Great, Aristotle, da Vinci, Martin Luther King, Hiawatha, Chia Tao, Isaac Newton, Moses, Ramses the Great, Michelangelo, Socrates or Einstein.

What do all these people have in common?

They made their greatest achievements in a state of peace. They treasured serenity of mind. Because it allowed their spirit to soar to new heights. They were Creators.

If you’re wondering how they did this, let’s look first at what they did Not do.

They did not obey the status quo.
They did not succumb to uncontrolled passions.
They were not paralyzed by doubt and anxiety.

What did it take for these luminaries to impart their wisdom, no matter what the barriers were?

The unquenchable desire to feel Good. Not just physically good, but mentally and spiritually good.

How did they receive and manifest their great ideas?

In a state of non-duality, where you feel calm AND vital.

It brings to mind a quote by the eminent conductor Sir Thomas Beecham. He said that great music has both ‘the maximum virility coupled with the utmost sensitivity.’

When you are in a state of relaxation, you feel recharged. And that’s where creativity is born.

Everyone is creative. It’s just a matter of allowing yourself to feel serene. That’s why The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD series is shipping around the world. Because every one of us wants to feel serenity.

To your luminous life,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. The very last chapter in the classic ‘As A Man Thinketh’ by James Allen is called ‘Serenity.’ He ends it like this.
‘Self-control is strength; Right Thought is mastery; Calmness is power. Say unto your heart, ‘Peace, be still!’’
Tap into your serenity now.

To All Crewmembers

"There are no passengers on spaceship earth. We are all crew."
- Anonymous

Today we’re celebrating our home, the extraordinary planet Earth. There is not a day that I don’t get reminders of how powerful we crewmembers really are. Our every action is a testament to that power. Like Jane Goodall said,

"Roots creep underground everywhere
and make a firm foundation.

Shoots seem very weak but to reach the light
they can break open brick walls.

Hundreds of thousands of roots and shoots,
hundreds of thousands of people around the world,
can break through these walls.

You CAN change the world."

As crewmembers we all have responsibilities. By changing our outlook, we change our life. Today is a reminder that, as your world turns, it changes, it adapts, it grows stronger. Just like nature.

Change your body, your mind, and your spirit by replenishing your energy on a cellular level. Expose yourself to nourishing frequencies. By investing in sounds that recharge You. Go now and change your world .

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. Thoreau said, ‘A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.’
Uplifting music is like a lake of beautiful sounds. It too opens the doors to your true nature.

The Dirty Little Secret About Ads

There’s lots of reasons to turn of your TV. But the most important, I think, is revealed in the following fact:

Virtually two-thirds of all the ads you’ll see are for drugs.

By watching these commercials you’re allowing yourself to be brainwashed into believing that drugs are the answer to nearly everything.

Question is, do these ads work?

Well…yes. Or we wouldn’t be bombarded with them. Look in the bathroom and kitchen cabinets in most homes and what do you find – piles of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

Here’s the real shocker. It still stops me in my tracks every time I hear it.

Statistics show that OVER 90 PERCENT of Americans believe that their health is directly related to how many drugs they take. I mean, how warped is that. It’s totally out of whack. Since the truth is that a healthy person doesn’t have a good relationship with their pharmacist. Healthy people avoid drugs like the plague.

Most people believe if a parent doesn’t give drugs to their sick child, they’re a bad parent. Our daughter Clara has never taken a drug, and she’s doing just fine.

And here’s another side effect of these ads. They’re so powerful that people who haven’t been to see a doctor in eons, are now asking their doctor for the drugs they’ve seen on television. I mean, they ask for a Specific drug.

Just remember that cigarettes used to be advertised on the tube. Do you know why cigarette ads were finally banned? Because they were so effective in subconsciously motivating people to smoke.

Your subconscious mind holds the keys to your life. That’s why you want to only feed it positive stuff. Sometimes we can’t control what we’re exposed to. To rid your mind of all the negative influences of the day and rejuvenate your brain cells, you have to relax. Positive, high frequency music helps you do this effortlessly.

So stock up your health cabinet with The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD package. You’ll not only feel rejuvenated but also save time and money by foregoing drugs - and their side effects.

You can stop any addiction by starting a good habit.

Here’s to you luminous health,
Tania Gabrielle French

The Twilight Zone Revisited

Our local drugstore took me to a weird world yesterday. It’s a place I hardly recognize any more.

Here’s what happened.

Walking up to check out my items, a cashier said, “Did you hear Tom and Katie had their baby girl yesterday? And guess what her name is … It means this in Hebrew and that in Persian. Can you believe it?! I just don’t understand Hollywood.”

The other cashier chimed in, “You know what else is really weird. Brooke had her baby the same day in the same hospital in L.A. as Tom and Katie did. Isn’t that so weird? After that whole episode Tom and Brooke had. And Gwyneth and Donald also just had babies…”

This went on during my whole checkout experience. They wanted to talk to me about it. I just left it at “congratulations to everyone having babies” and walked to my car marveling at how distracting gossip is.

I guess living precariously through others has become the sport for couch potatoes.

Gossipers talk and talk about others in a way that makes it seem the world would stop if there was nothing to talk about. Well, actually, their life Is at a stand-still.

The sound of gossip is not pleasant. It spreads like a virus. And it’s addictive. That’s why I don’t read popular magazines like People. These mags pull you away from what’s real by convincing you that other people’s lives are more important than your own.

Well, I guess they’ve succeeded. Because lots of folks are buying it.

Someone once told me that Oprah never watches TV. I understand. She’s living. Not sitting around watching and talking about others. I bet most highly creative types don’t care much for TV or gossipy mags.

Rather they read great books, work out and listen to positive, life-enhancing music. It’s a surefire way to keep your life in balance.

Here’s to your gossip-free life!

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

Hail to the Chief

Lots of people think they’ve got to please everyone else in order to be happy and successful. Whether it’s your boss, mom or dad, teacher or spouse - doing something to please someone else is a pretty dismal way to live.

In fact, following this formula does not bring success. It leads straight to failure.

The good news is that the only person you have to make sure is taken care of is – You. This doesn’t mean you’re being selfish.

And here’s why.

You Are Everybody. I know, I know, it sounds strange. But think of it. You’re walking along the street and run into someone who is a bundle of joy. You get excited and can’t take you’re eyes off that person. And the reason is two-fold.

1. It rubs off on you.

2. You realize, “Hey, I can feel that way too.”

Because it’s everyone’s right to feel happy and successful. They just don’t know it yet. Because they’re too busy trying to please other people.

That’s why when you take care of your needs, everyone is affected.

Look. If you’re doing something that’s right for you and you alone, you’re doing something that’s right for everyone. If you just sit and worry or complain, the effect on others is, well, negative.

It’s time to take care of the chief. That’s you. Begin now by unwinding to positive, uplifting sounds. Because rejuvenating your mind and body is the best recipe for joy.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

Why My Friend Left Hollywood

A good friend is visiting us for a few days. She has a fascinating story to tell.

We met when our daughters were three months old. By that time her life had changed dramatically. Freddie is from Kentucky where she got a full scholarship to play volleyball in college. Her team was so good that they trained in L.A. with Olympic coaches.

But then, while back in Kentucky she was “discovered” by a modeling scout and went to live in Paris for a few years where she modeled for all the top magazines. Got tired of it, went back home to the farm in Kentucky and after a few months received a call from L.A. asking her to come to L.A. for a big modeling job.

During her volleyball days in L.A. she realized that she had a great interest in alternative medicine, so she made the immediate decision to move there. Arriving with only $500 in her pocket, she began making a good living immediately as a model. Commercials for all the major brands soon followed, as did TV and movies.

In what turned out to be her final Hollywood gig, Freddie Simpson had a starring role in “A League of Her Own”. She spent six months with Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna filming her role as a Southern Georgia Belle on the baseball team. And had a great time.

But then she decided to leave the glitter behind. I met Freddie after her Hollywood days, and didn’t hear about her past life till many months later. So all I can say is that she’s one of the most down to earth, happy people I’ve met. Not a fake bone in her body.

After stints teaching drama in schools, followed by yoga, Freddie is now in the process of acquiring her Master’s in Acupuncture. She and her husband, a director and screenwriter for Independent Films, will be moving here in two years. That’s when she’ll have her license to practice acupuncture anywhere in the U.S.

Freddie is one of the few who has willingly escaped the stress and pressures of life. She had the courage to say ‘no’ to fame and ‘yes’ to calmness and joy. “A League of Her Own” is a classic that’s watched by girls over and over again. Which means Freddie is recognized sometimes. Most people she meets this way can’t understand her decision.

But she knows that fame does not bring happiness. Only a calm mind and rejuvenated body make you feel good.

I like hearing stories that remind us of what matters most. That’s what positive, high frequency music does too. Beautiful music reminds you to relax. It encourages you to take a mind and body timeout. It’s precious, and it’s yours now when you order The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD package.

Why Most Golfers Are Wimps

Now that it’s spring, golf courses will be teeming with people thinking they’re getting their daily workout.

Let’s see now, carry the golf clubs to the cart. Get in cart drive. Tee off. Watch the ball. Get into cart and drive 100 yards to fairway. Take out golf club. Hit ball a few more times. Watch it sink into a hole. Get back in cart and drive to next tee. Do this 17 more times.

Delude yourself that you’ve just worked out. Drive cart to lot and have a big meal at the Inn.

We’ve seen it happen all day long, 365 days a year.

Our house overlooks part beautiful historic golf course. Hall-of-Famers Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Gary Player have walked these legendary fairways and greens.

The thing is, it first opened for play in 1899. That means, people walked the course for many, many decades. They were rewarded with magical views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains, streams, ponds, majestic trees, and the occasional turkey or fox who frequent the course. No antiseptic feel on this course. It’s Made for walking.

Only recently were carts introduced as people became lazier, lost touch with why they wanted to be outside, and were pressed for time.

The wimpy golfers that are driving their little carts around are missing the whole point of having an outdoor sporting experience.

From what we can tell, less than 5% of them actually walk the course. Imagine what great conversations they could have as they commune with nature while discussing the finer points of teeing off.

As Americans get fatter, I think we’re also getting more stupid.

I’d recommend these golfers listen to the The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD package. In order to raise their IQ by bringing some life to their brain cells. Because the wiser you are, the more you leave the fast paced rat race behind. You stop racing and start enjoying. You realize that you’re a creative machine. Not a rat in a maze.

So take this beautiful Spring weekend to renew your outlook on life. I do it every day. Soak in the sounds of Renewal and walk into a whole new world.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. Tomorrow is Easter, a celebration of renewal and regeneration. Now you can take this feeling and encapsulate it for the rest of the year. Just by listening to the renewing music of the The Secret Power of Words and Music package.

How to Plant for Posterity

Things are not always as they seem. That’s a profound fact found in nature as well.

A few days ago I planted 30 Oriental Lily bulbs. Once they were all covered up, nobody except me would have ever known that below ground 30 bulbs were teeming with life.

The inception of any seed or bulb begins with its growing roots. These roots reach into the subterranean ground searching for water. As they grow, the roots push the seed up through the ground where it forms into a plant and becomes visible.

There’s not much difference between a seed and a thought. Fact is, a thought’s subterranean roots take hold in the subconscious mind. Your Focused Intention is the light and water that allows the thought to push through the ground and become visible. Once conscious, your actions produce the fruit.

Many of us have great plans.

Then we forget to dig a hole, lay the groundwork for our idea, give it light and water in the form of conscious action and continually to nourish it through Focused Intention.

Ever wonder why so many people are running around in circles figuring that life never changes? Because the environment in their mind is barren ground. Their brain doesn’t have room for anything new, because it’s flooded with worry about the future. That’s when you can forget about getting any good results.

When you focus your intention on how you want your daily life to proceed – something happens. Just by planting this thought you begin to relax.

Once the thought-seed has turned into a bud popping out into the sunlight, you realize the sky’s the limit.

If you really want to know how powerful your mind is, check out this timeless piece of writing – The Science of Getting Rich. Couldn’t put it down once I started reading it.

Some of the content is shocking, even for today.

The Science of Getting Rich was written by Wallace D. Wattles, who used the lessons in the book to go from rags to riches nearly 100 years ago. I have it out at all times to inspire me again and again. I’ve also made a revised and updated version for all of you who want to be more creative and productive.

Find out more about this incredible piece of work, and what other goodies come with it.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. This quote from The Science of Getting Rich stimulated me in a big way: “The person who does not desire to live more abundantly, is abnormal.”

The Power of Greatness in Action

World class figure skaters have been known to toss out programs they’ve worked on for months. And learn a brand new one mid-season in just a few days or weeks.

They take this risk because something wasn’t quite jelling with them and the audience. The great ones know pretty quickly if a thing is worth keeping or tossing.

For performers and athletes who use music – the music they choose sets the stage for the whole year. Last night was another good indicator of how ‘in tune’ the top skaters are.

We drove down to Greenville, SC to watch the International Skating Showcase featuring the return on the ice of the legendary Michelle Kwan. You can watch the event on ABC on Saturday afternoon. What you’ll notice is the occasional roar at the end of some of the performances.

That roar encapsulates a spontaneous outpouring of appreciation. It is an acknowledgement of having just witnessed and felt something special, unique and life affirming. In fact, as a participant, the audience couldn’t help but be swept away.

What you’ll notice on Saturday is that Kwan does not jump even once. It didn’t matter. All that mattered was her palpable joy and her ability to share her love for skating with everyone. All the way up to the nosebleed section.

All that matters to each one of us is that we all tune in to what brings us that kind of happiness.

A really good habit for me is to tune into greatness at the beginning and end of the day. It’s why I favor inspiring books, DVDs, CDs and good conversation to watching TV. It’s also why I created The Secret Power of Words and Music.

Because Anything that renews you matters.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

How to Build A Superbrain

When you are born your brain already has 100,000,000,000 cells. That’s about the number of stars in our Milky Way.

But, unlike the rest of a newborn’s body, the baby brain is not complete at birth. In order to work, the cells have to communicate with each other. And sound plays a crucial role in brain development.

While still in the womb, sounds have a huge impact on the fetal heart rate. A stimulus that’s only five seconds long can cause changes in heart rate and movement which last up to an hour.

At 4 months, the infant's brain responds to every sound produced in all the languages of the world.

A 10 month-year-old can distinguish and produce sounds in their own language - such as ‘da-da’ - and no longer pay attention to the sounds of languages that are foreign.

If you talk to 12-month-old in a flat voice, they won’t respond as well as when you speak in a flowing, mellifluous tone. Clara, now three, loves it when I tell a story again and again, with the same inflections in my voice. As you raise your voice an octave and draw out your vowels, the child's brain responds by sending even more chemical and electrical impulses.

A baby's brain evolves so fast that by age two a child who is developing normally has the same number of connections as an adult.

And here’s the kicker. By age three, a child has Twice as many brain connections as an adult. Your three-year-old has a Superbrain.

Do you know what happens when you speak directly and personally to a preschool child - cascades of impulses go through the child's neurons or nerve cells. By repeating these positive interactions you’re actually helping the brain reinforce connections that already exist as well as make new ones.

And here is where adults come into the picture. Because, just like with children, the MORE repetition that goes on, the more the brain becomes confident. If you work out, you’re familiar with the power of repetition. It’s the reps that build the stamina and flexibility. That’s exactly why repeating sounds is crucial to brain development.

It’s only now that scientists are realizing that our brains develop indefinitely. The old views about finite brain growth have disappeared. It’s great news, and makes total sense to me.

Our mind is a living organism. It can grow and expand forever. Brain cells renew just like any other cells in our body. Since you’re reading this, I trust you are a Mind Expander not a mind ignorer. That means it’s your turn to get with the That means it’s your turn to get with the The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD program now.

What We Make Time For

Yesterday I saw something that made me realize what we make time for is a good indication about where our life is heading.

Clayton and I took our daughter Clara to an Easter egg hunt that was organized by one of our neighbors. We had a great time. Except for the one strange incident I witnessed. It happened after the all the eggs had been hunted down.

The wife of a couple I was talking to bent down to pick up a stray jelly bean of the grass. She was concerned that another child had already bitten into it and didn’t want her kids to eat it. Fair enough, I thought.

It’s what happened next that took me by surprise. Her husband took the jelly bean and threw it into the creek that was bordering the property. Then he said, “That’ll make a salamander happy.”

A few seconds later their 4-year-old son ran over holding half of a chocolate candy bar he’d just found. After telling him that he could not finish it, his mom took the candy bar and threw it into the creek too.

Funny how they couldn’t make time for a trip to the trash bin. Makes you realize why there’s so much trash lining some of our roads.

And this got me thinking about how we spend our day.

If you wan’t to know where anyone’s heading, all you have to do is to check out what they’re making time for. Especially watch for the little details. They reveal more than most of us want to know.

Finding time every day for things that refresh and renew you is as important as taking your vitamins. You and everyone else will sense how good you’re feeling.

That’s why so many people are now listening to The Secret Power of Words and Music CDs. Because they work. And because listening is effortless. Now it’s your turn to make time for a drugfree energy boost.

Tania Gabrielle French

Throw Out the Can-Openers

World-renowned Maestro Daniel Barenboim, Music Director of Chicago Symphony, calls programmed, piped music “absolutely offensive.”

I call it music suffering from a hangover. We’ve all been exposed to canned music in airports, elevators, and grocery stores.

Muzak is mindless music. It’s supposed to relax you, but it puts me to sleep. Nothing is stimulated and revived. Instead your brain is musically drugged. Drug companies take note - Muzak could be a revolutionary sleep aid. Just find a way to bottle it.

Since ordinary life has never been noisier, I try to avoid places that want to drug me with sound – like malls.

Muzak’s piped into hotels, bars, restaurants, parks, beaches, doctor and hospital waiting areas, and on hospital wards. The purpose must be to drug the patients in every manner possible.

In my opinion, there’s already enough pill popping going on.

If you want relief then take note on what’s been known for millennia – The quality of your life is directly related to the state of your mind. If your mind-less, you can’t focus on what’s good for you. If your mind-ful you’re aware and open to ideas that could help you live a fulfilled life.

The Secret Power of Words and Music is such a mind-opener. This five CD package has already helped countless people relax and recharge their brains and body. Now it’s Your turn to indulge.

Is Your Head Being Boomed?

Bet you’ve been exposed to the following scenario.

You’re standing outside in your yard enjoying the fresh air and quiet. Suddenly you hear your neighbor’s teenage son coming down the street.

You’re not hearing him, but the stereo blasting in his car. It’s audible long before he passes your house.

You feel the earth shaking to “boom, boom, boom.” The low frequency bass notes are felt under your feet and in your ears.

Where’s the melody? You won’t hear the high frequency acoustic guitar and vocals until the car drives by you. They disappear quickly once the car has passed your house.

But the thumping of the “boom, boom, boom” bass can still be felt for a while.

Low frequency sounds are heard at a much farther distance than high frequencies. The reason is that high frequency sound travels in a straight line. It can’t bend around corners and objects like low frequencies do.

If you’re at a parade waiting for a marching band to approach, you’ll hear the bass drums beating at a distance. your heart beats faster, you breathe more rapidly and feel a thrilling anticipation. It’s only when the marchers are much closer that the melody is audible.

Drumming is a powerful way to get your heart beating and your mind and body excited. Fun occasionally, but not in regular doses. Because stress does the same thing to your body.

Getting your pulse to race doesn’t translate into having more energy. It’s just a temporary surge of adrenaline.

If real, lasting energy is what you’re looking for, then listen to positive, high frequency sounds. They won’t raise your blood pressure. Far from it. They’ll SLOW down you’re heartbeat and replenish worn out cells.

Get on the rejuvenation program now. Start listening. Anywhere.

How Birds Can Improve Your Brain

I’ll always remember my dad saying that he loved listening to birdsong early in the morning. The singing centered him in a way that I didn’t understand at the time.

Now I know why he felt so refreshed.

Birdsong is a high frequency sound – around 5,000 hertz. Any sound between 5,000 and 8,000 hertz has been found to recharge our brain’s batteries.

You know what else is amazing?

5,000 hertz is also the frequency that energizes plants. In fact plants showed a 700 percent increase in efficiency of absorbing nutrients when exposed to high frequency classical music. This frequency actually helps the little pores on the plant's leaves called stomata to open up.

And who says nature doesn't have a plan. That’s why you'll find that in areas that don't have a lot of birds singing, there's not a lot of plant growth either.

Lots of birds equals lots of plants. Few birdsongs means not a whole lot of greenery. Now I know why we moved from Los Angeles to Asheville, North Carolina - we wanted birds and trees in our life.

Here’s a person who already put two and two together. Check out what he experienced.

“Hi Tania,

I love the CD's! I work from home in West Virginia. We have a lot of wildlife around our house and in the morning I enjoy listening to the birds sing as the sun begins to rise. This is also when I play your Renewal CD because the bird songs - along with your music fit together amazingly well.

David M.”

David, that’s great to hear. Glad the music is making that connection to nature.

There’s tons more to report these amazing high frequency sounds. Meantime, listen for yourself to the music that focuses your mind in no time. Get the The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD package and let your mind soar.

The Sound of Nature’s Fury

After falling asleep to distant lightning and thunder, we were woken up by a loud roaring sound at 4am.

Never have I or my husband Clayton heard continuous, non-stop thunder like that before.

We opened our shades to watch the lightning spectacle. Then suddenly a shower burst with pelting hail pounded our roof. It truly was awe-inspiring.

Thunder is a low frequency noise. Tis why even the distant rumble of thunder can make you feel uneasy, even fearful.

As I was lying there in bed holding our daughter Clara until she fell back asleep, I thought about the emotional effect of nature’s fury. Way back when, this kind of sound and light spectacle would have been seen as ‘a message from God’. And I don’t mean a pretty card with a sweet note written inside of it.

No, this was a sure sign that all was not right. Our ancestor’s bad deeds must have caused God to vent his anger.

You wouldn’t have gotten that fear and trepidation with a high frequency sound. It’s the Low frequencies of tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and tidal waves that make them so frightful.

We all remember the big tsunami that was triggered by a 9.0 earthquake in the Indian Ocean.

Giant waves washed floodwaters up to 2 miles inland at Yala National Park, Sri Lanka's biggest wildlife reserve and home to hundreds of wild elephants and several leopards. ‘The strange thing is we haven't recorded any dead animals,’ H.D. Ratnayake, deputy director of the national Wildlife Department, told Reuters. ‘No elephants are dead, not even a dead hare or rabbit,’ he added. ‘I think animals can sense disaster.’

Actually, animals don’t have a sixth sense like many believe. It’s just that they can hear very low frequencies. I know from experience that pet owners in Los Angeles will tell you that their pet acted strangely or disappeared Before an earthquake.

The animals that fled the tsunami would have heard/felt the earthquake and possibly heard or felt the tsunami many minutes or hours before it struck. It’s even possible they detected the earthquake (plates starting to shift) before the earthquake.

If you’re not a believer in the power of sound yet, then that animal story, which was reported everywhere the tsunami hit, should make you a convert. Sounds have an immediate emotional impact on those who hear or feel them.

That’s why investing in The Secret Power of Words and Music package is changing lives. The high frequency music brings you everything you need to stay centered and focused. Why spend another day without it.

The Truth About Caveman’s Social Skills

Caveman Crooners May Have Helped Early Humans Survive
from the Wall Street Journal
By SHARON BEGLEY
March 31, 2006; Page A11

"In Steven Mithen's imagination, the small band of Neanderthals gathered 50,000 years ago around the caves of Le Moustier, in what is now the Dordogne region of France, were butchering carcasses, scraping skins, shaping ax heads -- and singing.

One of the fur-clad men started it, a rhythmic sound with rising and falling pitch, and others picked it up, indicating their willingness to cooperate both in the moment and in the future, when the group would have to hunt or fend off predators. The music promoted "a sense of we-ness, of being together in the same situation facing the same problems," suggests Prof. Mithen, an archaeologist at England's Reading University. Music, he says, creates "a social rather than a merely individual identity." And that may solve a longstanding mystery.

Music gives biologists fits. Its ubiquity in human cultures, and strong evidence that the brain comes preloaded with musical circuits, suggest that music is as much a product of human evolution as, say, thumbs. But that raises the question of what music is for. Back in 1871, Darwin speculated that human music, like bird songs, attracts mates. Or, as he put it, prelinguistic human ancestors tried "to charm each other with musical notes and rhythm."

Some scientists today share that view. "Music was shaped by sexual selection to function mostly as a courtship display," Geoffrey Miller, of the University of New Mexico, argued in a 2001 paper. But like Darwin, he bases that conclusion on the belief that music has "no identifiable survival benefits." If a trait doesn't help creatures survive, then it can persist generation after generation only if it helps them reproduce.

Studies in neuroscience and anthropology, however, suggest that music did help human ancestors survive, particularly before language. In "The Singing Neanderthals," which Harvard University Press is publishing today, Prof. Mithen weaves those studies into an intriguing argument that "language may have been built on the neural underpinnings of music."

He starts with evidence that music is not merely a side effect of intelligence and language, as some argue. Instead, recent discoveries suggest that music lays sole claim to specific neural real estate. Consider musical savants. Although learning-disabled or retarded, they have astounding musical abilities. One savant could hardly speak or understand words, yet he played flawlessly a simple piano melody from memory despite hearing it only once. In an encore, he added left-hand chords and transposed it into a minor key.

"Music," says Prof. Mithen, "can exist within the brain in the absence of language," a sign that the two evolved independently. And since language impairment does not wipe out musical ability, the latter "must have a longer evolutionary history."

More evidence that the brain has dedicated, inborn musical circuits is that even babies have musical preferences, finds Sandra Trehub of the University of Toronto. They listen longer to perfect fifths and perfect fourths, and look pained by minor thirds. (Tania: perfect fifths and fourths are happy intervals, minor thirds are sad.)

If music is indeed an innate, stand-alone adaptation, then evolution could have nursed it along over the eons only if it helped early humans survive. It did so, Prof. Mithen suggests, because "if music is about anything, it is about expressing and inducing emotion."

Particular notes elicit the same emotions from most people, regardless of culture, studies suggest. A major third (prominent in Beethoven's "Ode to Joy") sounds happy; a minor third (as in the gloomy first movements of Mahler's Fifth) provokes feelings of sadness and even doom. A major seventh expresses aspiration. The absence of a third seems unresolved, loose, as if hanging, adds jazz guitarist Michael Rood, 17 years old.

The fact that listeners hear the same emotion in a given musical score is something a Neanderthal crooner might have exploited. Music can manipulate people's emotional states (think of liturgical music, martial music or workplace music). Happy people are more cooperative and creative. By fostering cooperation and creativity among bands of early, prelanguage human ancestors, music would have given them a survival edge. "If you can manipulate other people's emotions," says Prof. Mithen, "you have an advantage."

Music also promotes social bonding, which was crucial when humans were more often hunted than hunter and finding food was no walk on the savannah. Proto-music "became a communication system" for "the expression of emotion and the forging of group identities," argues Prof. Mithen.

Because music has grammar-like qualities such as recursion, it might have served an even greater function. With music in the brain, early humans had the neural foundation for the development of what most distinguishes us from other animals: symbolic thought and language."

Isn’t it interesting that the Wall Street Journal, newspaper for high achieving business people all over the world, is reporting that happy music makes people more cooperative and creative, giving them a survival edge?

Thank you WSJ for letting biologists know what music is for. It’s about time.

Since music can manipulate your emotions, making you stronger or weaker, happy or sad, wouldn’t you think that it’s a good idea to listen to positive music every day? Unless your brain is reverted back to the time of the Flintstones, you would have to agree. No bones about it.

There’s no better place to start than the 5 CD set comprising The Secret Power of Words and Music package.
