What Not To Do on Election Day
At a recent Harvest Festival my 6-year-old daughter Claire walked through her first haunted house. Once was definitely enough.
Her whole being instantly recoiled from wanting the same experience twice.
This immediate effect on her was dramatic. Children by nature express their feelings more generously than adults. Yet, our minds, hearts and bodies feel the effects of words, pictures and sounds all the time.
Aside from the five senses, which respond to our 3 dimensional world, we have vibrational and electrical fields affecting our cells. So when we’re bombarded with negative vibrations our body becomes destabilized. On a chemical level.
This in turn affects our thoughts and emotions.
Claire was immediately changed chemically while in the haunted house.
Amazingly, most of the influences on our daily lives escape our attention. We’re so used to hearing the sounds of the media or noises like traffic, planes, car alarms and other people’s cell phone conversations, we’re not even conscious that they’re even being picked up by our brain.
Really, when it comes down to it, much of what we think of as background noise is poisonous.
Anything that dumbs down your alertness, distracts your attention from what’s at hand and feeds you irrelevant information, is not adding to your life.
In fact, these common distraictions usually result in loosing touch with the greatest tool you have – your intuition. There’s no way to listen to your intuitive hunches when your life is filled with chatter. Feng shui experts remind us to clear the clutter in our lives. Much of what we hear and see today clutters our body’s home – the mind.
Intuition is your way back in. Your connection to your heart.
If you base your decisions on what you hear in the mostly negative media, you are taking your queues from people and beliefs that have no connection to you.
This is where the tools of positively charged sounds and music are so helpful. Getting to that place where you’re calm, relaxed and alert is the key to accessing your intuition.
If it’s raining, listen to the raindrops, marvel at the beauty of nature, enjoy a quiet evening with a loved one, meditate, walk, read an inspiring book, tap into your creativity. These are all great activities to relax and rejuvenate your mind and body.
The big diversions in life all occur to distract you from fulfilling your gifts to the fullest extent possible.
So if you get sucked into the media onslaught over the next few days be sure to take a quiet break. Turn off the radio or tv, and listen to the positive, high frequency sounds that uplift and nourish you.
Be sure to insert one of the five CDs included in The Secret Power of Words and Music CD series.
