How to Eliminate Uncertainty
Clayton was convinced we wouldn’t make it home from Tampa on Sunday evening. The plane had a mechanical problem and the uncertainty of ever leaving Florida that night was palpable.
He turned to me and said, ‘I don’t think we’re going to make our connection to Asheville. So, we’ve got to decide whether we’re camping out in Tampa or Atlanta.’
‘We’ll be sleeping in our beds tonight – I know it,’ I replied. I really was certain this was going to happen.
I was playing with my future, you see. It was a lot more fun imagining arriving home that night, however late, than living on pins and needles without a change of clothes and other essentials.
Eventually we left Tampa two hours late and arrived in Atlanta after our connecting flight was due to depart. Happily we the monitor showed our next flight was also delayed do to rain.
Though it wasn’t quite enough time to get our luggage transferred, I kept with my happy vision of both suitcases and family making it home that night. By this time I was thrilled to know We were going to make it, so continuing my fun future by including our luggage was easy.
10 minutes after we got to the gate there was an announcement. One of the oxygen masks needed some adjusting and we’d be leaving an hour later.
‘Yes, yes, yes,’ I said, ‘now our luggage will definitely make it too.’
All this fun and games affected our four-year-old daughter Clara as well. To the delight of the weary and tired fellow travelers, she started imitating the mannerisms of people walking by our gate. A very cute Marcel Marceau performance. Funny thing is, she was just doing it to amuse herself.
As you can imagine, there were big smiles all round.
Fun and games don’t just have to occur when your playing a board game or telling a joke. Fun begins in your creative mind. But you can only access it by being in a relaxed and receptive state.
Make a commitment to having fun. Then watch how feelings of uncertainty eradicate like magic. A powerful guarantee to a happy future is now yours.
Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French
