Why Leaf Blowers Should Be Banned

Yesterday, while raking leaves, we heard from our next door neighbor that they were moving.

Great, I thought. Not because we don’t like them – far from it, they’re a nice family. Why my reaction then. Come March, they were planning on starting a large remodel and addition to their home.

My studio would have been facing the whole thing. Seeing and hearing the noise in progress. So I was happy about the news. It meant no noise aggravation – at least for now.

After telling us the news, the same neighbor brought out his leaf blower.

We had just finished raking leaves. Being bombarded with leaf blower noise felt pretty unnatural after our quiet and fun family activity. Our neighbor’s 3 year old son wasn’t using a rake to help either. Not like our daughter Clara who raked and swept with us for hours, in between jumping into the leaf piles of course.

Wonder if our neighbor’s taking time to smell the scent of autumn leaves. Not sure how enjoyable it would be with all that noise though.

Believe me, I’m not against technological advances. Only against those things that affect others adversely. Gardeners happen to own a lot of those smelly, loud devices.

Maybe I should be investing in earplugs.

I ended up putting on some earphones and playing some of the music on The Secret Power of Words and Music CDs.

Figured – if you can’t beat them, drown them out. With beautiful, calm, positive music. Sounds that make you happy. And quiet you down. Sounds of rejuvenation. Get yours here at here now.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French
