How We’re Dumbing Ourselves Down

Came across some scary news today.

In the past two years teevee sets now outnumber people in the average American home.

50% of U.S. homes have 3 sets or more. If you’ve got a family with two kids, you probably own at least five teevees. Your children may even have a set in their bedroom.

We know a family who’s 4-year-old has had a teevee in her bedroom before she could even walk.

What do all these extra sets mean. You guessed it, more teevee watching. Hold onto your seats, because the average number of hours a person stares at the tube has gone up.

The large Neilson study reports that the average person watches four hours 35 minutes of television each day - a new high.

Oops, I almost forgot. Those hours don’t account for how long sets are actually ON for all day. In the average American home the television set is turned on for eight hours 14 minutes a day.

That’s totally insane.

Talk about complicating your life. Sounds wafting from TV sets are dumbing down brain cells, making you more tired as well as keeping you from relaxing without distraction. Their cumulative effect is destructive to your overall health.

Tuning out of life is not relaxing. It’s exhausting. And that’s what most teevee watching is – tuning out. Using teevee babble as background noise isn’t much better. We’ve got enough distractions. Why add what’s coming out of your teevee to the mix.

Substitute those unhealthy sounds with positive, health enhancing ones - positive, health enhancing ones - and enjoy your newfound energy and peace of mind.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. In 1975, 57 percent of American homes had only a single set. Not to mention how few channels there were at that time. Imagine being creative with your time instead of staring at a teevee. It’s the best medicine for happiness there is – creating a glorious life for yourself. Don’t spend your life watching the world pass you by.
