Hijacking the Airwaves
Yesterday I sat down in a beautiful waiting room with my daughter and was surprised to hear an NPR news program wafting in from the next room over.
Of course, the news was not of the happy variety. So I moved as far away from the sound source as possible. It was surprising, because this place naturally attracts a lot of parents with kids.
Do people really have to hear the news anytime of day whenever possible. And subject their addiction on others. Especially children.
What this really boils down to is an abuse of our airwaves. Whether it’s foul music or foul news, you’re definitely going to feel the effects in your brain and body.
Hijacking the airwaves, by smoking cigarettes or playing negative sounds, is plain arrogant.
OK, if you’re at home, anything goes. Literally.
Lots of folks who unwind in front of the old TV in the evening are not sure what they’ll be watching. Guess their remote will be flipping channels looking for a show or movie that captivates their exhausted mind. Feeling stimulated, they suddenly feel alive again.
Course, it’s just their hormones kicking in.
Over-stimulation happens with drugs, food or sounds. Sometimes all three at once.
The stuff that oozes out of your teevee and radio spikes and stimulates big time. It may be okay in small doses. As long as you also frequent sounds that bring your heartbeat back to where it belongs – at 60 beats a minute.
Take your pulse while listening to today’s news or watching your favorite sitcom. And take it again while listening to the soothing sounds on any of The Secret Power of Words and Music CDs.
It’s an easy test. One you can take anywhere. And yes, that slower heartbeat will give you a longer, healthier life. The choice is yours.
Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French
