Drivers Beware

Here we go again. A major Canadian study has found that listening to loud music greatly really impairs performing mental and physical tasks. They include every kind of music that is fast and loud, from classical to rock.

“It doesn't matter if you listen to opera, classical or rave - it's the speed of the beat that counts,” said Dr. Conrad King.

Drivers especially were warned against playing loud music with a fast beat.

Add the fact that another British study found drivers were Twice as likely to drive through a red light while listening to loud music, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for disaster. Because, while driving during this relentless high volume barrage, your mind and body’s reaction time is slowed down 20%.

One more thing. You’re at even greater risk if you listen to music with a pounding beat rather than more relaxed tunes, according to experts.

Here’s how Dr. Robert King summed it up. "It is important that drivers choose their music carefully when driving, since up-tempo music has been shown to cause drivers to have double the amount of accidents as those listening to slower music.

"In general, if music is above 60 beats per minute, listeners experience a faster heart rate and increased blood pressure.”

As I said, here we go again. Faster heart rate. Adrenaline pumping. Increased blood pressure. It’s like sitting on a fast train to disaster. Of the mental and physical kind.

One CD you can be assured of is great for driving is the Renewal CD - the beautiful, flowing melodies, gentle rhythms and luminous harmonies won’t dilute your brain cells. They’ll focus your mind and relax your body. You won’t believe how good your next drive will feel.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. John Nicol, a Scotsman living in Germany writes, “Wow, what a great package! The distinct style of your songs is just what we're looking for in our busy lives. My girlfriend and I were so excited when we first heard Renewal, that we took it along on our long distance journey in the car the other day. After every song, we couldn't wait to hear the next track. This is a unique collection of arching melodies, sounds, nuances and styles.”
