Beach Behavior

Was talking to my friend Kim yesterday about her family’s recent beach vacation.

Going to the beach and immersing yourself in the sounds and sights of waves rolling on shore is one of the most wonderful experiences in life. The negative ions in sea air, coupled with the ebb and flow of sound waves rejuvenates your mind and body on a deep level.

Too often, especially now during summer vacation, there are beach goers who spread sound pollution. Bringing garbage to any natural setting disturbs all who are there to feel nature’s gifts.

Case in point. Someone who just can’t stay away from their radio. They arrive with it blasting in the car and bring their portable boom-box with them. Add to that, that it’s usually low frequencies, i.e. rock and pop, that are polluting the airwaves.

My friend Kim’s solution was this. Go to the beach early in the morning. Come back for late breakfast, a nap, and reading. Then head back to the beach after an early dinner.

Her vacation, which happened during Fourth of July week, turned out to be blissful.

Vibrations in music are just colors. Most music out there in the public eye is pretty dark and muddy. The sounds and rhythms tarnish instead of uplift. We all know how it feels to listen to complainers. This mood dampening music usually complains about something - be it disappointment in love, rejection, loss, anger, desperation, confusion and so on. The lyrics usually tell all.

So next time you head to the beach, or any pristine expression of nature, pick a good time of day and avoid the chatter and noise pollution. Your experience will turn from average to profound.

While you’re driving there, turn on the Renewal CD - it’s perfect for getting you in a good, relaxing, joyful state of mind.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French

P.S. ‘There's music in the sighing of a reed; There's music in the gushing of a rill; There's music in all things, if men had ears: Their earth is but an echo of the spheres. - Lord Byron
