Who’s Really the Boss
Bet you thought that the combined weight of over 6 billion humans outweighs any other animal species out there. Or maybe, like me, you haven’t ever thought about it.
I guarantee you will after you read this.
Because I’ve got some news for you. From earth’s point of view ants are a lot more useful than we are. Yes, ants. First let’s look at the staggering issue of who weighs more.
There are approximately 10 million billion ants crawling around our planet. Now 1 million billion ants weigh about a billion pounds. Slightly less than the combined weight of every man, woman and child on earth.
Which means that the total number of ants outweighs us 10 to 1. Sounds like Hollywood has a story here. What’s the secret to this insect’s success?
This is how Harvard’s E.O. Wilson puts it: “Ants have evolved the Most Successful societies in the invertebrate world. With complex caste systems and…the most advanced way of chemical communication in the animal kingdom. This has enabled ants to be one of the most abundant and influential organisms on earth for more than 60 million years.”
Like I was saying earlier, from the planet’s point of view, ants are a lot more useful than humans are. Here’s why.
As scavengers, composters, pollinators, and predators of insects and small animals, they are essential. In fact, their loss would be catastrophic to virtually every ecosystem. Their good deeds keep us alive.
They are, as Professor Wilson has noted, the little things that run the earth.
You might wonder how they communicate. Ants produce squeaking high frequency sounds by rubbing two parts of their body together, usually waist against abdomen. They do this when they find food or are in distress.
Never underestimate your friendly ants again. They may know more about the mysteries of the universe than we do.
Including the power of high frequency sound. Get your copy of The Secret Power of Words and Music package to experience these relaxing, invigorating frequencies.
Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French
P.S. Black Elk, famous Sioux Medicine Man, had this to say.
"One should pay attention to even the smallest crawling creature, for these too may have a valuable lesson to teach us, and even the smallest ant may wish to communicate with man."
