Music Keeps Marines Sane
Last week a CD titled ‘Voices from the Frontline’ was released, on which you can hear marines and soldiers make music to offset the emotional strains of being stationed in Iraq.
The one constant theme throughout the CD is the idea that music is therapy.
Marine Cpl. Mischelle Rae Johnston regularly sang and wrote lyrics into a tape recorder her mother gave her. On ABC News she said, “Music was my outlet, my escape from the repetitive tasks, the stress. My body stayed grounded, but my soul, mind and spirit were free to wonder.”
Johnston and her colleagues know about acute stress. They realize on a very deep level that words and music are powerful stress releasers.
It’s natural to have to counterbalance all emotional, mental and physical strain with the stuff that uplifts and calms. Otherwise, the residue would build up and eventually make you physically or mentally ill.
And music is the ultimate relaxer. Whether your making music or listening to it, positive sounds have a way of reaching into your state-of-mind and recharging it instantly.
A great analogy comes from doing bodyweight exercises. Good workouts have you flex and relax your muscles many times. It’s natural after straining or flexing your muscles that you then need to relax them.
We all need to alleviate mental and emotional stress as well. Having daily time for rejuvenation is as crucial as sleeping. Whether you take a nap, do yoga, qi gong, meditate, stretch, take a walk, or partake in some positively charged music, you’ll be the better for it in the short and long run.
You won’t find an easier way to get recharged than by listening to The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD package. This is much more than just brainfood – it’s the total body/mind/spirit rejuvenator.
A copy of this phenomenal program is reserved for You Now.
Warm Regards,
