More than Double the Performance
On Saturday I told you about the amazing new study that showed how listening to high frequency classical music during exercise more than doubles mental performance.
Pretty cool, right.
Sometimes it’s fun to learn how researchers went about proving their theory. So, I’m going to share their simple test with you – because it had such powerful results.
On the surface, listening to music is pretty complex. Because your brain has to sort out tones, and timing, and the sequence of various sounds to digest the music you’re listening to.
So, the theory was that listening to high frequency music should fire up the frontal lobe of the brain. The frontal lobe is the part of the brain that generates higher mental functions, like thinking abstract thoughts, and planning your future - what I like to call creative thinking.
Researchers used a simple but widely respected test to see if the frontal lobe became more active after participants listened to classical music while exercising. Each person was given a letter of the alphabet. They were told to generate as many words they could think of beginning with that letter. They did this before and after exercising.
There were two rules.
1. They couldn’t just add a different ending, like past tense to generate a new word.
2. They were not allowed to repeat any words. Which means, they had to remember all the words they already used.
Everyone was given one minute to come up with as many words as possible. Here are the results.
After exercising Without music there was no change.
But after exercising to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons there was a Huge change – more than double the mental performance, on average.
That’s a pretty remarkable result. And, I must add, that it didn’t take much. I mean, adding this music to your workout does not involve extra time, studying or thinking.
No extra work, just a brighter mind. Who wouldn’t want that.
Do this on a regular basis and you’ll train your brain just like you train the muscles in your body. Plus, positively spoken powerful words have a similar effect. So go recharge your frontal lobe now by listening to The Secret Power of Words and Music 5 CD package.
Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French
P.S. There are so many ways you can raise your brain’s vibrations while listening to high frequency sounds - while you’re walking, running, dancing, doing bodyweight exercises, yoga, pilates. Order your 5 CD set and watch your mind expand.
