How to Mine Your Subconscious Mind

This happens every day to thousands of people.

You walk into a grocery store to buy milk, located on the far wall. As you hurry down the aisle past bags of cookies, you have childhood memories of freshly-dunked chocolate chip cookies turning soft and chewy in a cold glass of fresh milk. After you grab some milk you find your shoe tapping to a toned-down version of the Rolling Stones' "Time is on My Side." Subconsciously you think, "Hey, if `time is on my side' why hurry?" You slow down just long enough to grab a bag of chocolate chip cookies ...

Look, I’m not a fan of cookies and milk. But I know how sound and smells and vision can work together subconsciously to make you do things.

First, here are the incredible numbers.

Your subconscious mind is a powerful receiving vehicle. There have been attempts made to measure the capacity of our five senses. By, for example, counting the nerve cells in the eyes, and calculating the amount of data each of those cells can transmit. Scientists have been able to measure this pretty accurately.

Here are some recent figures. They are translated into bits per second (b/s). Sight has a 10,000,000 b/s capacity. Hearing has 100,000. Skin (feel) has 1,000,000. Taste has 1,000. And Smell has 100,000 – the same as hearing. The grand total is 11,201,000 bits per second. Every second of our lives.

That’s quite extraordinary.

You can see that the ratio between sight and hearing is 100:1. What’s also interesting is that smell and hearing, two senses that are related, have a ratio of 1:1.

Now for the fascinating part.

The capacity of our consciousness has also been measured. It’s a bit more complex, so different figures have been reached. But they’re All in the region of 16-40 bits per second.

When you realize that we Receive eleven million bits per second, but are only aware of around 40. That begs the question, where does the rest go? I mean, that’s a ratio of 275,000:1. Some of these bits are telling your liver how to behave or deal with keeping your body temperature stable. But that still leaves a lot of bits.

Here’s my take on this how we digest all this info.

Those bits enter our subconscious mind, where they are filed away. It is up to us to make them conscious. We do that through deep relaxation. Meditation. Becoming so quiet that we perceive our inner world. That inner world is extraordinary. It holds the keys to instant and constant joy and peace.

You usually enter this space very briefly right before falling asleep and again, right before waking. Some really creative people are able to hold that Alpha state long enough to come up with beautiful ideas.

Everyone can access it for longer periods by meditating or listening to supremely tuned, positively charged music and words. These special sounds have the capacity to join the two hemispheres of your brain, allowing your creativity to blossom tenfold.

To use your instant tonic, this elixir of sound, listen to The Secret Power of Words and Music CDs and make contact with your subconscious mind. It’s not something to be missed.

Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French
