Silence is Golden
My husband just left town and my daughter is sleeping – and I’m loving every minute of it. Why.
Because it’s silent. And all I can hear is the sound of my mind pulsating to the rhythm that is unique to my life.
Of course I’ll miss my husband while he’s off performing and recording on the West Coast. But these occasional absences can be enormous opportunities for my inner development.
When our family is reunited again, I’ll feel refreshed and thrilled. Because I am conquering sadness with creativity. And there’s nothing like the joy of being creative.
Without silence, there is no peace of mind. Without peace of mind there is no creative thought. Without a creative idea, there can be no excitement about your future. And, as a side note, those of you with children can’t get happy through their accomplishments. Your happiness is only dependent on your own thoughts and actions.
Silence can be really confronting.
Questions such as, where am I going to be in 20 years, creep into your mind from nowhere. Usually we bury those thoughts underneath the noise of everyday life. Your worries about the future will only disappear when you address them head-on.
First, admit that you have them. Then Do something about them. Works like magic.
Everything worrisome disappears when it’s properly and thoroughly addressed – through creative action.
So cherish your times alone. Take time outs. Turn off all unnecessary electrical appliances, i.e. your TV, radio, disc player, cellphone, and computer.
Then discover where the power of silence takes you.
I promise you, it will be out of the ordinary. Here’s to your silent treatment.
Warm Regards,
Tania Gabrielle French
