Happiness Is an Inside Job
Joy is the result of activities well chosen. When our chosen field of endeavor feels burdensome, happiness only consists of fleeting moments. A life of happiness is created by building blocks of joyful activity.
Here are some inspirational quotes to keep all of us on track.
‘But what is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads?’
–Lord Byron
‘In animi securitate vitam beatam ponimus.’ Translation ‘We think a happy life consists in tranquility of mind.’
–Cicero
‘Happiness is essentially a state of going somewhere, wholeheartedly, one-directionally, without regret or reservation.’
–William H. Sheldon
‘Happiness is like a butterfly. The more you chase it, the more it eludes you. But if you turn your attention to other things, It comes and sits softly on your shoulder.’
–Anonymous
‘Happiness is an inside job.’
–William Arthur Ward
‘Happiness is the overcoming of not unknown obstacles toward a known goal.’
–Anonymous
‘He who finds thought that lets us penetrate even a little deeper into the eternal mystery of nature has been granted great grace. He who, in addition, experiences the recognition, sympathy, and help of the best minds of his times, had been given almost more happiness than one man can bear.’
–William Cowper
William Cowper is right. Experiencing the ‘help of the best minds of his times’ is a surefire way to surefire happiness. One of the best minds of recent time is Wallace D. Wattles.
